"This season's results were far from what we hoped for, to the point where I can't even find the words, so we must get back to basics and fight again.
However, the fact that the members who had been competing since the start of the season performed well and achieved results was a positive for the team.
For next season, I want to rebuild from scratch again."
With this, the representative activities for this season have come to an end.
JAPAN had a graceful exit at the WCH2025 by sweeping Libya with their signature play style. Grabbing their 1st win on their last game was the ending everyone hoped for after they encountered two upsets. Seeing them play like their life depends on it was really nostalgic. Their floor defense, firepower, fast offense, amazing OOS plays, service pressure, and mental state all clicked together this time.
After watching the game, one can really say that THIS IS JAPAN THAT I KNOW. Although still rough around the edges as they're in the 1st year of their new system and new era, they still proved that they're really a strong team. True to what Ran said that he wanted to win in front of the Filipino audience. And they did. (So sad I cannot watch them live this time😭) After their downfall, there's really no way but up. Seeing their smiles and ease on court really put me at ease and made me excited at what's in store for them in the future. Thank you, Ryujin NIPPON. Fly high!🥳
CANADA SWEEPS JAPAN This is the ending that nobody wanted----and nobody expected. Japan's early exit in the WCH2025 😭 This is the reality of the Ryujin NIPPON now. I cannot😭😭😭
They are strong. Turkiye players really took advantage of everything they can to cage Japan with their plays. They really cut Japan's wings before they can even take off with their intense service pressure. Both their aerial and floor defense were very impressive. They are not just a tall team. They're a tall team who can block the hell out of most of Japan's attack leaving no room for recovery. They are also a team who can cover the floor and recycle every bit of loose balls and create opportunities to attack. I never thought Turkiye had that power. And they proved me wrong. They really are the better team in this match.
Meanwhile, Japan was really a different team in this match. It took me a while to gather my thoughts on this game because I was still shocked at what I watched live. Their system is way way different than what I've watched from the three consecutive years that I saw them play live. Obviously, since they have a new coach, their system would really be different. But I don't think that that system is really effective in their play style. They were known as ninjas on court. They were clamored for their beautiful attack system, untouchable pipes, and brilliant OOS attacks. They were praised for their efficient recovery of balls and ingenious tricks to create attacking opportunities. What they lacked in height, they made up for their impeccable floor defense and wonderful attacks.
In this match, they are nowhere to be found. I can really feel the frustration of the players as their gears were not coming together and they cannot play the way they want to. Their connection was off the entire game. Of course, they acknowledged that they have setter problem as Sekita is not there while Eiro and Oya were still struggling to complete the missing pieces needed to bind the team together. In my truly honest opinion, even though they have a new system, they should have retained the things working out for them from their previous system. Empower them and add what's missing to reinforce a new stronger system.
It was a big blow to the team. I hope that they solve this problem, recover fast, and bounce back stronger for the next match. They can't afford to lose this one because they will be exiting the competition really early. Their goal is a podium finish so I hope they get to do that. Still here, cheering for my home team. Ganbare, NIPPON!
