It’s been said that no one falls in love faster than a narcissist who needs a place to stay.
That’s not romance. That’s housing insecurity wrapped in manipulation.

Many narcissists are functionally homeless. They float from couch to couch, relationship to relationship, situation to situation looking for stability they refuse to build themselves.

This is where serial squatting comes in.

A serial squatter is someone who fraudulently occupies properties, fails to pay rent, and strategically moves on to the next victim once eviction is unavoidable. They don’t just “fall on hard times.” They plan the move.

Here’s how squatting commonly happens:

• Someone breaks into a vacant or renovated property with utilities on and starts living there
• An authorized roommate or illegal subtenant refuses to leave after the lease ends
• A well-meaning renter falls for a fake landlord rental scam
• A “temporary stay” turns permanent once the narcissist starts receiving mail

That last one is where many helpers get trapped.

Once mail is established, the narcissist can be legally considered a tenant.
And now guess what? You can’t just “kick them out.”
You’re forced into a formal eviction process in your own home.

Read that again.

This is why discernment matters.
This is why boundaries matter.
This is why being kind without wisdom is dangerous.

If you have roommates, do your due diligence.
Run background checks.
Put agreements in writing, even for “just a few weeks.”

Love doesn’t rush your space.
Healing doesn’t hijack your home.
And safety always beats sympathy.
