79 Years of Ry! 🎸

"The guitar is a beautiful instrument, but it's also a trap. You can get so caught up in the technique that you forget the soul. I’m just looking for that one note that tells the whole story." — Ry Cooder

Did you know that Ry made music history back in ’79? While most people today recognize him as the mastermind behind the Buena Vista Social Club, he was a true pioneer decades before that.

Recorded in the heart of North Hollywood on a then-revolutionary 3M 32-track digital machine, his album "Bop Till You Drop" (released in July '79) was the very first digitally recorded major-label album in pop history. Ry was miles ahead of his time—and sounded more relaxed than anyone else while doing it.

While everyone else in the late 70s was cranking up the volume, Ry redefined the "cool factor." He took this old Ike & Tina Turner gem, layered his legendary slide guitar over it, and created "I Think It’s Going To Work Out Fine"—the ultimate soundtrack for a midnight drive under the palms. 🌴

Happy 79th Birthday, Maestro! 🥂

Peter White ‪@peterwhite‬ – the gentleman of Smooth Jazz.

An unforgettable night. An unforgettable vibe. At the 1st Annual Smooth Jazz Festival, Bregenz – just steps from the Bodensee – Peter didn’t just play… he lit the whole place on fire.

Together with Jaared, Rocco Ventrella ‪@RoccoVentrellaOfficial‬, and & Marion Meadows, he turned the stage into a celebration of pure energy and musical joy. The crowd? Ecstatic. Standing ovations. People dancing, cheering – completely losing it. And yes… all that for Smooth Jazz. It was magic:

Peter’s music has soundtracked so many chapters of my life – but that night? That was something else. One of the kindest souls I’ve ever met – and still a master of melodies that cut straight to the heart.

A true class act – on stage and off. Still one of the smoothest to ever do it… and forever spinning in my playlists.
