Only took me a month of work, but its done.

"Smith!" a voice called from behind me. "I require a weapon, highest quality you can manage, spare no detail If you please."

The request came out more akin to a demand, "you sure you'll be able to cover all that? Excuse me for prying; but unless you've stumbled across some mighty valuable treasure- well, what is it you plan to do, if you don't mind me asking?"

Even by that point i knew them well enough. They never had much, even as a child, and they were never very confident either, so where did all this come from?

"If you must know," they said, thier tone softening to something more somber "I've seen... a lot of things i wish i hadn't." A pause. "Strife, struggle, pain, and I wanna change all that."

The words had forced me to straighten my posture, "you believe yourself to be that capable?" I knew what was coming so i began rifiling through the swords I had already made.

"Well no, but i want to try."

The steel sword sailed through the air for a moment before they caught it. Awkward, stunned silence filled my humble little tent.

And wanting to be rid of it as soon i could, I spoke: "I know you don't have any money, but i see something in those eyes I can't quite describe."

"Keep it. It might not be what you want, but someday you'll have one to call your own."

"For now, grow into this one, and good luck."

With newfound fervor they rushed out as fast as thier legs could carry them, blade in hand.

Even after all these years, I never did catch thier name.

Guess I'll just call them the Hero.
