I've started reading Yona of the Dawn and am about 50 chapters in and the resemblance from Yona really reminds me of Psyche from Your Throne. Once I caught up to Yona of the Dawn, might do a comparison between the two since Yona def has alot of potential. Overall, been enjoying it so faršš
So I was playing DDLC and been at it for about 3 hrs and uhh.......where's monikaš±(Fullscreen for spoilers) surely this is ok...
Update: Got to the credits and now it's telling me I need to reinstall the game since it's broke, this was definitely an experience....might need to come back to this another time
Just found out that a week from now, it'll be Nagito's birthday, so I'm gonna glaze him next week for sure. He bouta solo Trigger Happy Havoc no cap š§¢
To any vtuber bros or hololive fans, today was a sad day for all of us, especially me as Gawr Gura was the reason I got into the vtuber sphere and while it did not seem like much, has genuinely made me enjoy long video format and has made me loved anime even more, having some of the most entertaining streams I have watched and kept me company during the lockdown.
Sad seeing her announce her graduation but what matters is that we will all be there on May 1st, not to send her off with tears, but with a smile that she is moving forward to a new chapter of life. I will be making a special edit in honor of how she has impacted my life and my love for anime so fellow shrimps, stay strong and let's make her graduation the best it has beenš„¹
As Roy Mustang from FMAB would put it... "It's a terrible day for rain"
So...I finished Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony and have finally completed the trilogy. This review as usual, will have a non spoiler and spoiler section on my thoughts on V3 as well as a overall section for those that ain't reading my long ass review lol.
NON SPOILER
So for context, I did have to check the watch order for it since I've heard that V3 has to be the last thing u play, so I have watched the Danganronpa 3 anime and played Ultra Despair Girls (review for UDG in earlier post) B4 transitioning to V3 so yea. V3 started off with a banger, chapter 1 being one of the most entertaining and still best chapters in V3, the plot twist was so good and honestly did jebait me quite a bit, I also think that chapter 4 and 5 were really good, almost crying at the end of both of them, and chapter 5 always having such a goated trial with an amazing twist.
I also think the cast was really strong in this also, grown to love the cast a lot as I played and have a lot of relationship building in this, particularly with the GOATED Best trio in DGR IMO being Shuichi, Kaito and Maki. I felt their chemistry was very entertaining and while we do have many iconic trio groups in other games, this one felt different because they genuinely grown to be very good friends and do what any friend group would do, hanging out and talking etc. While I still personally prefer 2's cast since I felt everyone's overall dynamic was slightly stronger, V3 is def the second best, being very close.
Gameplay wise, this was the best that it has ever been. The UI and aesthetics for the trials were very clean and looked very modern. The new improved gameplay aspects like Rebuttal Showdown and Augment Arguments were very good changes and new additions like Mind Mines and Mass Panic Debates, making for a fresh take on the stages of class trials. I purposely left this out cuz I want to talk bout it separately but debate scrums is prob the greatest thing that DGR has added ever and it's the one aspect of class trials I always look forward to no matter what. I love the concept of taking sides and matching relevant topics to counter to be so addicting for some reason and in all honesty, I WANT DEBATE SCRUMS IN OTHER GAMES ALSO. It's so goated and the very definition of 'The perfect idea that came too late'.
SPOILER
This will mostly talk about the story wise, I'll go into some notable portions to make it more easier to read so I'll start off with the twist in Chapter 1. The audacity to do a protagonist swap was executed beautifully and everything was played out amazingly, sad that we couldn't continue as Kaede as the MC since I thought it would be interesting to see a female lead in a DGR mainline game but Shuichi was definitely a very entertaining MC, him starting off slow but slowly with the help of his friends, starts to be more confident in his detective work and gaining self esteem. I also liked how the impact of Kaede's death left such a lasting impact on both Shuichi and the audience and overall, was a goated chapter 1, best out of the trilogy by a mile.
Chapter 5 was also amazing ofc, bring a Kokichi focused chapter and the fact that he was cooking something from all the way back in chapter 2 was insane. Seeing his plan to beat the mastermind at his own game, like making a trial where even Monokuma doesn't know who died?! That was a crazy plan from the goat and big respects to him for taking the villain role and making everyone turn against him. His conclusion was spectacular, and how that we never know if his final words were true or not and prob the perfect description of his character, said by Shuichi "Kokichi was the embodiment of a lie".
Now I want to get to where I felt was mostly a contributing factor to why V3 is ranked second in the trilogy imo and that is the ending of V3. Tsumugi being the mastermind was honestly kinda boring tbh, and the reveal that DGR is a fictional story and that they are recreating it to please the world. While it is a mind blowing twist, I felt that it tried to be very meta and fourth wall breaking too much and while I love this kind of stuff, particularly in comedy series like gintama, I feel that when done incorrectly, can feel very excessive and takes a lot away from wat the story lead up to. I do say that while it did conclude very messy, I particularly don't hate it. I still find it very enjoyable but there was a lot of things they were trying to portray but it's hard to grasp what they are trying to say when so many things gets thrown at once. I dare say that I enjoyed THH ending more than V3 cuz at least, there was a linear flow to the ending and while I did felt that THH final trial dragged out slightly, V3 felt even more dragged out but in all honestly, it was still a good finale that truly felt like this is the true ending of the Danganronpa franchise as a whole and I thoroughly enjoyed it despite my criticism.
OVERALL (speaking for DGR in general) I say that Danganronpa has definitely become one of my fav series I've stepped into, with an amazing concept, entertaining mysteries that keeps the viewers thinking, amazing cast of characters that everyone will definitely find a favourite and a unique gameplay, there's a lot to love about it. I am still in the rabbit hole, being that I now want more content so I will definitely be doing replays so I can learn more about my fav characters through the hangouts, as well as checking out alternate bonus materials like the Kirigiri LNs etc.
Final rankings: GD >= KH > THH > UDG
T3 chars in V3 is Maki, Kaito and Kokichi/Shuichi (very close between the two)
Guys, just for context and update. I'm at the start of the investigation for chapter 3 but I'm just gonna say this now...
SEND HELP B4 I FILL UP MY STORAGE SPACE WITH ARTWORK OF MAKI. I FCKING LOVE HER SO MUCH IM SIMPING SO HARD RN, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHš¤Æš¤Æš¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ SHE DESERVES ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD, I FELT SO BAD FOR HER WHEN EVERYONE DISTANCED THEMSELVES FOR HER, IMMEDIATELY DID HER HANGOUTS AND ALMOST MAXED IT IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE INVESTIGATION. SHE'S SO ADORABLE AND IS SO SWEET WHEN YOU SEE HER HANGOUT STORY, SOMEONE SEND HELPš¤šš¤
Just gonna update y'all that I have started Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony today and have completed chapter 1. For those that don't want to be spoiled since chapter 1 starts off with a banger, prob the best intro chapter out of all the Danganronpa games, don't check the second img but this is just gonna be a short overview on my thoughts on the start.
They start off really strong right off the bat, waste no time with the ridiculousness of it's setting and the monokubs. The cast seem to be very "unique" but I can tell that they will grow on me soon. A lot of resemblance if you look at V3 cast and 2 cast but that's a good thing since 2 has my fav cast so far.
Gameplay is even better in this, the UI is fricking clean an I love the way they design it, really neon style with a lot of futuristic aesthetics, very dynamic colors and a lot more expressive when it comes to others talking or arguing.
New gameplay is amazing with mass panic being pretty interesting but it also makes sense since it's not uncommon to see heated arguments/debates get so haywire and can have multiple people talking at once. The new Hangman's Gambit is not as hard as 2 but def is a challenge I could see in future trials. But I think the best thing I want to point out so far in my experience is Split Opinions. This part of the gameplay might be my most fav part of the trial and idk why I liked it so much, maybe cuz the whole siding aspect and using everyone's points to match the same topics is so satisfying to put together so I say it's the best gameplay I've seen in a Danganronpa game yet.
The chapter overall was amazing, bert chapter 1 by a long shot and was surprised with such an early plot twist and the conclusion was heartbreaking. Was kinda sad at the end and yea, this game is starting off strong and I can't wait to grind it.
Anyways, that's all for me. Thanks for reading and cya soon when I finish the game/come back from my break or both...who knowsšš
I know I'm a bit late to this but I'd like to give a quick thanks to everyone who has supported me in these times and WE FINALLY MADE IT, 3 DIGITS!!š¤Æ
Gonna have big plans to celebrate this so hopefully y'all can be a little more patient with meš āļøthanks for reading and cya again
Just gonna announce that I will be taking a break from YouTube since my current situation is making it hard for me to even use my phone for more than an hour (army life rn kinda sucks but it's temporaryš)in a pretty mentally demanding course and after that, it's relax after finishing so hopefully y'all understand why I'm even less active rn. Will announce when i will come back but rn I'm kinda drained and it's only the first week of my course. On the bright side, I did managed to grind and complete Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls during this weekend so I'm able to give y'all my thoughts on it.
UTG was a very different experience compared to the previous games as the genre is centered on a third person shooter instead of a detective puzzle solving type so immediately getting used to the very different mechanics was a challenge but got quickly acclimated to it. The story was slow at the start tbh and I didn't really find Komaru interesting till later in the story and her dynamic with Toko was definitely the best part of the story. Toko, a character with not much development in the first game now has become a really well developed character and I'm glad that it put more emphasis on characters previously brushed aside. We got to see what was happening on the outside during the Tragedy and learn of Junko's influence that holds strong with the Warriors of Hope and Remnants of Despair. Overall, this was a very short but enjoyable experience and while it did have some parts that I did not much interest in, like the antagonist was okay and I feel it was more focused on Komaru and Toko than other side characters, it was still a good game and would recommend if you want to find out what happened after THH. Score: 7.5/10
