Gold in India has surpassed the significant level of ₹90,000. Gold’s position is undeniable in India, considering its cultural significance above and beyond the notion of wealth. As a large aspect of cultural rituals (especially weddings and festivals), it will always guarantee some demand, no matter the economic climate faced at any particular time.

Demand for gold remains reliant upon emerging market consumption of jewelry-related purchases or investments in gold, typically reflective of growth, inflation, consumption habits, and a change in investor sentiment or behavior, which are heavily influenced by geopolitical change. India matters a lot being a large consumer - both culturally and major purchases made during the festival times of the year. Gold is dual natured consumption and investment asset, and an eventual change in demand would depend on how either behavior is reflected in economic factors of some kind. Gold, in terms of being an investment, has historically generated higher returns, coupled with lower volatility in relative connection to stocks, and thus provides a strong vehicle for portfolio diversification.

There will always be some inflow of demand during periods of instability while managing the inflow of stabilization is evident during periods when short-term risk factors are assigned to mitigate or are present. Gold will historically reflect investor activity during downturns as the asset class has historically always been declared as a haven for risk (and flight) assigned either economic distress or economic downturn. Gold does even better in periods of high inflation, and consequently gold has a unique correlation and special status as the conditions and the changes in demand for gold rise and shift under economic conditions changes.

Is it a good time to purchase more units? Every market correction is opportunity to buy more mutual fund?

The "buy the dip" strategy requires significant emotional discipline. When the market experiences a dip, it's common to feel stressed, and it's easy to act impulsive. Due to impatience one might sell their asset too soon and incurring losses.

If you're a new investor, it can be overwhelming to understand the jargon associated with mutual funds. However, learning the terminology can help you make informed investment decisions.

1. ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY (AMC)

AMC - An Asset Management Company is a financial institution registered under the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The primary function of an AMC is to pool money from investors and manage various fund schemes on their behalf. The AMC carries out all purchases and sales of these schemes and is responsible for ensuring that the investments are made in a manner that aligns with the investors' goals.

2. ASSET ALLOCATION

It's important to understand that each asset class has its own set of characteristics that determine its performance. One of the key distinctions between asset classes is the level of risk and return that they offer. For example, stocks are generally considered to be riskier than bonds, but they also have the potential to generate higher returns over the long term. On the other hand, bonds are generally considered to be less risky, but they also offer lower returns compared to stocks. These differences in risk and return levels mean that each asset class will behave differently over time, and that's why it's important to have a diversified portfolio that includes a mix of asset classes. By diversifying your portfolio, you can potentially reduce your overall risk while still maximizing your returns.

3. NET ASSET VALUE (NAV)

When purchasing a mutual fund, investors buy units of the fund at its NAV. The NAV is calculated at the end of each trading day. Unlike share prices that fluctuate throughout the day at exchanges, NAV remains constant until the next trading day. The calculation of NAV involves subtracting the value of a mutual fund's liabilities from the value of its assets. The resulting number is then divided by the total number of outstanding units of the fund.

4. ASSET UNDER MANAGEMENT (AUM)
Assets Under Management (AUM) is a term used to describe the total value of assets that a financial institution or a fund manager is managing on behalf of its clients. In the context of mutual funds, AUM refers to the total amount of money that has been pooled by investors in a mutual fund scheme. This is because a higher AUM often means that the fund is more popular among investors and that it has a larger pool of capital to invest in a wider range of assets.

5. EXIT LOAD

The exit load is a charge imposed by Asset Management Companies (AMCs) on investors who redeem their mutual fund units before a specified period. This fee is designed to discourage investors from making early redemptions, as it can impact the performance of the mutual fund. The exit load is typically a percentage of the redemption value, and the amount may vary depending on the duration for which the investment has been held.
6. COMPOUND ANNUAL GROWTH RATE (CAGR)
The annualized growth rate in a financial year measures the average rate of return of an investment over a specific period, typically longer than one year. It takes into account the compounding of returns over time and is expressed as a percentage.

7. LOCK-IN PERIOD

A lock-in period is a pre-determined duration during which investors who have invested in a specific mutual fund scheme are not allowed to redeem or sell their units. The length of the lock-in period varies depending on the type of mutual fund and the particular scheme. Different mutual fund schemes have different lock-in periods, which can range from a few months to several years. During the lock-in period, investors must hold on to their units and cannot liquidate their investments.

8. BENCHMARK

A benchmark is used to evaluate the performance of a portfolio. It is a standard measure that can help investors analyze the allocation, risk, and return of a portfolio. This comparison can be done against a variety of benchmarks that represent different market segments, such as stock indices, bond indices, or mutual fund indices. The selection of a benchmark depends on the investment objectives and the composition of the portfolio. By comparing a portfolio's performance to a benchmark, investors can assess whether the portfolio is meeting its objectives or not. Additionally, benchmarking allows investors to identify areas of strength or weakness in the portfolio and adjust it accordingly.

Investing your money over time can help you create wealth and achieve your financial goals. Instead of leaving your money in a savings account, investing allows your money to generate returns and work for you. This makes saving for important milestones such as retirement, a dream vacation, or a child's education easier. Inflation can cause your money to lose its value over time, but investing has the potential to outpace inflation and ensure your money retains its value.
