BEHIND THE LYRICS - Way I'm Feeling by Tim Wheeler: My English Translation!
This is 6th song that only exists in Simlish that I managed to translate fully into English! Here is the inspiration behind my translation. ^__^
Listening through the song, the vibe didn't feel hopeful. It sounded like a release of all his struggles and hardships, never getting positive reinforcement in return. That this is life, and all he can do is deal with it. I didn't hear "way I'm feeling" or "wayba fweebin'" (in Simlish) come up, so I figured the entire song represented how he was feeling rather than a lyric that comes up in the song.
[Verse 1]
Everyday the struggle’s never won
Will I be free? That day never comes
(I) Need someday all these petty gripes,
To not be jealous of their peaceful lives
So, in the first verse to open the song, I wanted to convey a deep daily struggle. The frustration of trying to make things better, only to have life make you fail. To be in this constant loop with no gratification in sight. So why continue? Is this all that life is? It cannot be. He can see other people living their lives and seem to have achieved peace...so why can't he? To have just one day where he isn't jealous of everyone around him who are fine, where life has been kind to THEM but not him...
[Chorus]
Yeah, it’s just the way life turns out
Aah, it’s just the way you carry on
The chorus sounds like he begrudgingly accepts that this is how his life just is, and there is nothing he can do but carry on. This is the "Way I'm Feeling."
[Verse 2]
Every hardship doesn’t make me strong
Running in circles where it’s all wrong
The walls are closing in, I can’t break through
Can’t save myself no matter what I do
In verse 2, I thought about what struggles men deal with, specifically those that anyone could empathize with. The first thing I thought of was the line we are always told when life brings us down, "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger," or "god doesn't give you what you cannot handle." "This is what will make you into a man." I think men are told this more often. Given no chance to reflect, to grieve, to process the struggle. I, as a black woman, hear this a lot too. Just keep going...you gotta be strong for your family, for your community, for future generations. So I made the first line admitting that no, not every hardship "makes me strong." Sometimes it is just cruel and breaks me. I am stuck in a loop where every option is wrong. Maybe it isn't acceptable to feel this way, but the walls are closing in. It cannot be helped, and no, I cannot save myself either. This is just the way life is...this is the "Way I'm Feeling." All I can do is carry on...
[Bridge]
Breakin’ up, burning out…just a normal day
Never free, working hard…life’s become a cage
Time goes on, leaving me behind, with only a faint hope
Was this the life that I had chose?
That this whole song was finally a chance to express all of this. That every day is a constant uphill battle, constant burnout. This is his normal. He doesn't feel free, working constantly...where life itself has become a prison...a cage. Life and time are cruel as they continue to go on without him but yet he tries to have SOME hope... Why is this happening? Is this really a life he chose, or could it not be helped? Did fate decide his life for him against his will?
We all feel like this sometimes, and it is good to take time to just grieve the loss of your dreams and hope for your life. Part of admitting this is putting us on the path to healing. Hopefully, one day, find a place in life that works for all of us. Where our "normal" isn't constant suffering, but with experiences and people worth looking forward to. ^^ Let me know what you think of my translation. Check out this one and my other fully translated Simlish only songs! Be well and be safe everyone. ^^

BEHIND THE LYRICS - Be Somebody by Thutmose, my English translation!
The song Be Somebody by Thutmose is another Simlish original song. Simlish original, meaning the song only exists in Simlish (The language of The Sims games) and not in any IRL language. Thutmose originally wrote the song in English but it never got produced/released! This song really touched me, even in Simlish, that I managed to translate the whole song into English! Here is another edition of Behind The Lyrics of my inspirations behind my English translation.
THE FULL VIBE
What does it mean to "Be somebody?" What do you think of when you hear these words? To me, it has several meanings. It could mean being the best version of yourself or taking a stand for a just cause or living honestly & happily without caving into peer pressure. Throughout the song, I explore all these meanings of "Be somebody" and try to lead into each meaning effortlessly as the song progresses.
Listening to the song it sounded like the rapper was trying to reach out to the world, to inspire his listeners to "be somebody." To find their own path and inner strength like he did. Each verse sounded like he was describing his experiences and struggles. All the pain and hardships he went through which inspired him to take a stand and reach out to the world. That he wasn't going to keep his struggles quiet like those oppressing him wanted him to. NO NO! I will not be silent! I will let the world know how society has oppressed me and that I deserve better. Not just me but everyone deserves better than this horrible status quo we are forced to live under!
It sounded like each verse started with basic struggles and frustrations before getting real. So in my translation, I tried to convey that. What would be a typical struggle we all go through before we dig deep to see what the real problem is? What is keeping us all down, WHO is keeping us all down? Why does fighting back against this oppression require us to BE SOMEBODY to achieve justice?!
So in my translation, I made every chorus different. Each chorus reflects a different meaning of "be somebody" and the struggles that could lead a person to that state of being.
MY INTERPRETATION
[Chorus 1]
Be somebody! It isn’t easy
You gotta dig deep and become the most awesome you
(Don’t give in) Be somebody! It isn’t easy
You gotta dig deep and become the most awesome you
^---The first chorus reflects the meaning of "Be somebody" as being your best self. I also added an extra whisper part before the 2nd Be Somebody. In order to be your best self you have to dig deep into the core of who you are and what inspires you. To let go of basic instincts and fears. To realize that you can be better and SHOULD be better. What could prevent someone from being somebody? Giving in to those fears and instincts! That is why I made the whisper part before the 2nd Be Somebody as "Don't give in!" It is so easy to give in to your lesser self and instincts. To settle for being normal instead of better or greater. Society also pushes us to conformity and being average...easily controlled...but DON'T GIVE IN! You can Be Somebody! The most awesome you is there within you, right now. You just need to face those fears, overcome them, and you will achieve a higher sense of being! Of course, it isn't easy at all to do this...but WHY should we? What is the struggle? This brings us to the first half of the first verse.
[Verse 1 - first half]
We people be all life searchin’ for
Like divas we be racin’ for that glory though
So busy thinkin’ you deserve it “gotta get it, gotta get it”
While you beat up on all those who be helpin’ you
They say I’m trippin’ cuz I’m proud I earned my own way
Startin’ shit cuz I stand up for my lonely brothas in the same shoes
Takin’ risks and makin’ legendary work like
27 Club’s Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin
^--- I validate that we humans always want glory, to fit in, to be recognized or admired. We spend so much of our lives trying to get that love and validation. Always competing against each other for it instead of connecting with each other, realizing we can provide the love/validation/care we are searching for. Some people, in fact, think they deserve that glory at the expense of others! So much so that they step on, destroy, conquer, and USE others to do so! Even trample the people who are helping you achieve those goals! All of this is giving in to our baser and volatile instinct,s and we should not do this!! Then this is where I felt the rapper was trying to lead by example. That I am not one of those people who trample others just to get ahead. I got haters for living and earning honestly and so what? That's THEIR problem! I will not apologize for earning my own way and taking a stand for my people struggling as I am. What inspired me to take those risks in my music and my life? "27 Club's Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin." <- This was the only English part in the Simlish version.
[Verse 1 - 2nd half]
All my people who’ve been brutally enslaved and the endless homicide
Which the public ignored the first time
Never valued just statistical data not to keep in mind
But their lives are left forgotten
One who “bless god” when y’all feeling special
Leavin’ out your neighbor to go sufferin’ in silence
On your knees never realizing every god, church, and religion
Ain’t nothing but a lie
^---- So after exploring the basic struggles and desires we all go through, this is when the song gets real. What is really behind all this hate, abuse, and taking advantage of others? This desire for power and glory? The endless brutal enslavement of my people, plus the homicide and mass incarceration. We aren't recognized as human beings, still as lesser or 3/5 of a person!! The public keeps ignoring this! The most "validation" we get is as a mere statistic in some research study, and not the human trauma and oppression our people went through! Their actual LIVES are forgotten, and people move on to the next daily injustice, not realizing they are all connected and that these were precious lives being lost for no reason other than someone's bigotry and greed! Then I got really real. We like to blame our struggle on racists and racist systems, which deserve it, but there are things we are doing to ENSLAVE ourselves! We are not as proactive as we could be in helping our own communities and people struggling as we are! This is where I lead into the biggest obstacle within the black community to our freedom, justice, and success in life that we do to ourselves: Religion and god belief. We "bless god" and "praise Jesus" all the time while never recognizing our own ancestors. God and Jesus never existed at any point in time and never will, but our ANCESTORS sure did!! Too many of us care more about the fictional life of Jesus and his "struggles" compared to what our actual ancestors went through. Why don't we support our own communities better? Why do we insist on peer-pressuring our families and communities with our OPPRESSOR'S religion and gods? To feel special? To feel loved? To feel that glory we talked about in the beginning? We think we are doing good, but we aren't. Our families, neighbors and loved ones continue to suffer in silence without us even realizing it! Always on our knees every day without ever realizing that god, church, and all religions are nothing but a lie. We shouldn't waste our lives on this! We can love and support each other directly; no god/Jesus/church is needed. This is what is preventing us from not only being our best selves but also providing the love and support our community needs! Churches pay no taxes, so all the money we feed it never comes back to fuel our communities. Maybe the black church helped in the past, but it is predatory now! Too many people are trying to fit in rather than taking a stand for a better future! This is what leads to the next meaning of Be Somebody!
[Chorus 2]
(Don’t fit in) Be somebody! It ain’t easy
You gotta stand up to this world and make them hear you
(Don’t fit in) Be somebody! It ain’t easy
You gotta stand up to this world and make them hear you
^----The whisper part changes to reflect the obstacle to the next definition of "Be Somebody." To be somebody it requires taking a stand, having your voice be heard! If you are so busy trying to fit in, conform, and hide within a group you will always be enslaved by other people's standards. So BE SOMEBODY and take a stand! DON'T FIT IN, BE SOMEBODY! It isn't easy but it is necessary to improve the quality of all our lives. Keeping the status quo gets us nowhere and leads to never-ending struggle and misery. So break the cycle! Do something different! Take a stand! You owe it to yourself, the community, and the world to do so. You CAN do it. I know it is scary to stand alone against the group but if you want the real rewards in life it requires you to make waves and support others who are taking a stand too! People throughout my whole life looked at me like I climbed Mount Everest every time I took a stand, called out a toxic majority, or stood up to a bully. That is am doing something impossible and inconceivable by doing so but I am not. Within them, too, they can be somebody and take a stand. There are people like me around who will stand up with them, so they don't have to fear taking a stand alone.

What is it like transcribing Simlish from YT videos? Some unique and hilarious challenges come up.
Overall, YT is a great place to transcribe Simlish because it is much easier to rewind and replay parts of songs over and over again compared to other platforms. Plus, they are more likely to have the Simlish songs I need than anywhere else. But then...hilarious issues start popping up.
As I transcribe Simlish, YT thinks I am making a spam post because it is "gibberish" with no real meaning. So it thinks I am a bot/troll/spammer when I am just trying to transcribe the Simlish lyrics for I Will Survive, for example lol. I also have an app called Grammarly that not only fixes spelling errors but grammatical errors and helps you word all your sentences better and have a certain tone (confident, friendly, etc). It's active all the time. When I am doing Simlish ANYTHING the app has a nervous breakdown. Almost my entire transcription is redlined and it keeps giving me "Are you trying to say____" suggestions. Even at times, the app icon tries to BLOCK me from typing until I deal with all the spelling and grammatical errors first. Grammarly really hates when I transcribe entire songs in Simlish lol. This is what is happening as I am typing out the Simlish lyrics. That's why I always post them on genius.com too, as a backup lol.
When I post the transcription after I am done, a couple of interesting things happen. YT might not even post it at first because it thinks it is spam but at the same time, spam posts are usually 1-2 sentences, tops? So to post the full lyrics of a song in gibberish...YT is like...maybe it isn't spam...or that "spammer" is really dedicated to communicating in "spam language"...so eventually it posts my transcription comment lol. Once posted, other interesting things happen. Google Translate (especially viewing the comment on my phone) seems COMPELLED to try to detect the language and translate the Simlish transcription...but it cannot. Google Translate even after 1000s of videos/comments in Simlish still hasn't added the language to its selection lol. So you get to see some really hilarious "language detections" and "translations" of the Simlish transcriptions which always make me laugh out loud, yes literally. I have made around 4 videos on the subject of Simlish vs Google Translate. Check those out too! On rare occasions, YT thinks a Simlish word refers to a real-life event/topic in which those little Wikipedia info page pop-ups become attached to the comment or video. That is truly bizarre. I process that I need to change the spelling of the Simlish word so that YT doesn't keep thinking I am referring to something I am not lol. The same applies to Urban Dictionary. Some Simlish sounds like bad words or how they are spelled means something REALLY bad/gross in the Urban dictionary. In those times, I too, change the Simlish spelling on purpose until Urban Dictionary cannot process anything about it lol
So those are just some of the weird and hilarious things that pop up as I transcribe Simlish lyrics and after I post them on YT or genius.com. Hope you found this interesting. If you haven't checked it out yet, I have a video on my method of transcribing Simlish. It is called "Reverse Engineering Simlish." I also have a live video of me transcribing a Simlish song - Cherry by Naomi Scott! It's only on my Patreon page: The_OG_GG. Stay tuned for more Simlish lyric videos! :D I am also in the works of making another video about the queens of Simlish and how I transcribe vs how they translate songs into Simlish. If you're interested and want me to make that video, let me know! Happy Simming! 🥰🤗

Sul Sul GG's Groupies and everyone! It is out! Part 4 of The Alternative Podcast on overcoming loneliness! Part 3, titled "Feeling Lonely? Overcoming Loneliness by Learning How To Be Yourself & Enjoy Your Own Company!" is about how to actually overcome loneliness and expectations so you can be free to be yourself when alone and enjoy your own company. But there was a problem. Heads up! I'd like to bring to your attention 2 playlists: Simlish Songs Leading The Revolution & Simlish Spooky Music!
1)To help support the No Kings protests and all the protests/revolutions happening globally, I created a playlist of Simlish songs that perfectly fit the vibe! Several of them are Simlish original (simlish only) songs I translated into English! Music, art, and humor are key for any revolution, especially against hate and fascism! What makes Simlish songs particularly good is that it is all focused on emotion. It's universal! With the power of Simlish, you can bridge language barriers to our shared goal of human rights & economic justice for all. From suppressed rage to uplifting hope to a fighting spirit, Simlish songs convey all these emotions so effectively. This is why I have carefully selected these songs in particular. Add them to your protests, no matter where you are in the world. Just look up "Simlish songs leading the revolution" playlist right here on YouTube!
2)With Halloween on the way, I created a playlist with some of my favorite spooky theme Simlish songs. Great for any Halloween events and gatherings! The Sims games do something unique during October. In October, they program our sims to automatically put on the radio to the Spooky Radio Station! Have you noticed that in your game yet? Check it out! Always activated at least 2 weeks before Halloween in your Sims games! Enjoy the Simlish Spooky Music playlist and the great artists who lent their talents to the Simlish song universe!!
Be well, be safe, keeping fighting and have fun! I hope the quality of your life improves with each day! ^__^
