ایک کھجور کا بدلہ"
ایک بار حضرت علیؓ مسجد میں نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔ سجدے میں تھے کہ ایک فقیر آیا اور کچھ مانگا۔ حضرت علیؓ نے سجدے میں ہی اپنی انگلی سے اشارہ کیا کہ ان کی انگوٹھی لے لو۔ فقیر نے انگوٹھی نکالی اور چلا گیا۔
نماز کے بعد کچھ صحابہؓ نے پوچھا:
"یا علیؓ، آپ نے سجدے میں انگوٹھی کیوں دی؟"
حضرت علیؓ مسکرائے اور کہا:
"میں نے سنا ہے، جو کسی کی حاجت پوری کرے، اللہ اس کے قدموں میں جنت رکھ دیتا ہے۔ میں نے صرف اپنا حصہ لیا ہے۔"
