I teach router tips and techniques to anyone who wants to improve their skills. I restore sash windows, in historic homes.

I make things and share my knowledge, so do not be surprised if you find some other crafts thrown in as well.

I don't post with a regularly schedule, as I am a Full-time Self-Employed tradesmen, working on client jobs for people just like you. This means I post videos as and when time allows.

For regular postsabout making things, The shorts video playlist on mobile and the community tabs are a great place to look. I also post over on Instagram

SPONSORS/CORPORATE:
I'm not looking for sponsors, and I don't get paid by brands. You can always ask, but you've got to be something REALLY special to not get ignored.

Trend tool technology (since 2013),
Piher clamps (since 2014), &
HikokiUK (since 2018),
RepairCare UK (since 2022)

If you think your tools are better than these, I'd be happy to try one, but be warned - I'm hard to impress, and 100% honest.

This is what’s currently in the workshop,
I’m so busy with real work, I’ve decided to change up the YouTube content.
No more fancy attempts at editing and production. No more time wasted with soundtracks or voiceovers.
Just making stuff and shooting it.

I’ve also ditched 95% of channel subscriptions as well:
No more videos chocked full of affiliate links, VPN adverts. No more moaning about the cost of trades, followed by telling me how to price work.
I’ve deleted my Patreon account, and will be removing the Amazon links in my descriptions.

It’s just got too much now, so I’m walking away from it. I want to inspired by what I watch now, not sold too.

Sorry if that offends some channels, actually no I’m not, not really.

I’ve seen at least 4. Review videos of the trend cordless router on YouTube all repeating each other about their concerns over the quality and durability of the dust extraction spout….
Well I’m officially calling BS on that.
In a little over 6 months of near daily use on site, and the workshop I’ve dropped, knocked, kicked and tripped over this router with and without the extractor hose attached and it’s been fine. So I’m guessing the video owners ones are fine too sitting in the workshop for the most part..

Oh, and mine doesn’t even live in the case either I transferred it to an empty systainer where it’s loose with everything in the original case plus a sander too!

Sorry folks.

Really!!?

I mean I get that there’s probably 5000 woodworking and maker related channels out there on YouTube who would happily take your money to promote a breakfast cereal they never heard of let alone tried, but you see I’m not like that… I make my living from making - actually REmaking, and restoring old historic 🏡 and these videos are a side gig to that when I’m not busy (that’s why I’ve not put a video out for nearly a year), so again - for the third time - thankyou but I feel on this occasion due to existing and future commitments another channel could be a more profitable fit for your clients.

I get this honestly I do. I currently work with 4 of what I genuinely believe to be the most amazing brands, and fit for what I do…. I get at least 1 of these a week from various emails…. Most just get ignored.
This isn’t a “hey check me out, I’m so big time”post this is a “I’m highly selective and if your a brand I’ll work with its because I 100% am behind what you do… so viewers can have faith in what I show, and say.
No video games, dog food, vpn, of audio spots on this channel…. I’ll leave that for channels who make their living on YouTube, so I can concentrate making my living on the tools.
YouTube is still a side gig💪🪚

There’s been several comments and messages over the last 12-15 months: why no videos, have you stopped doing YouTube?
The answer is no, I’m still maintaining the channel, but the videos have had to slow to let me run the main business, which is restorative and bespoke carpentry.
In the last year the business has got busier, giving me less time to YouTube. Content has been shot, but needs edited.
Expect more videos in the winter months when it’s too bad to be working out on site.
I know 99% of really don’t care, and the vast majority of you probably didn’t notice, which is cool - I’m nothing special…… but with daylight fading faster, and projects wrapping up for the season…. I’ll be back editing and putting out things for you to see. Assuming you want to see it.
Instagrams where I’m at daily so if you find the restorations interesting, Instagram is where to find me.

So I was really hoping to have a video out today, particularly as a week ago this weeks video was about 50% edited and ready to go...... but work has really picked up this week and since it is what pays the bills, it’s where the focus of effort has to be - obviously.
But this is one thing I’m working on today, as well as getting more done on the video.
The next video will be out when it’s ready, between now an then, keep an eye out in the community tab for stories and other updates!

In this weeks offering I reveal how I get my materials for making jigs, and that I get the for free. (Although you may start out with just a huge discount).
this works for other materials too, this is the second video of this type . The first being from about 6 years ago.

The smarter ones amongst you will probably have realised that there are several homemade router jig videos on the way. So keep an eye out for those.
