109 years ago today… in Day 9 of the journey, November 21, 1916, H.M.H.S. Britannic was on her way to Mudros, Greece when she suddenly strike a mine at 8:12 AM in the morning at the Aegean Sea near the Kea Channel island. She was taken in water fast, Captain Bartlett ordered the ship to be beached near the island so the propellers kept turning, he told the crew to not lower the lifeboats due to the rushing propeller, two stopped while the propeller in the port side kept turning. However some of the crew ignored the order and launched the lifeboats without permission, with 30 people in the lifeboats. They lost their lives from the port side moving propeller. Captain Bartlett realized there’s no way they can reach to shore of the island so he ordered the ship to stop and it did. The hospital vessel was sinking quickly and quickly as the bow begins to go under, some lifeboats were launched with people such as patients, nurses or some crew onboard. After 55 minutes, at 9:07 AM, the Britannic fully sank after the mine explosion. One of the rescue naval ships, HMS Heroic arrived to the site and rescued the survivors from the lifeboats. Britannic disaster remain one of the horrific ww1 disasters ever in maritime history, ever since 4 years after the sinking of her sister ship, Titanic. As of today, Britannic still remains remembered in our hearts along with the 30 people. In memory of the 30 people who left their lives during that tragic day… this is officially the last day of Britannic Week until next year. 1916-2025… ❤️🤍💚🙏🏻🕊️🫡 (images belong to their rightful owners.) 109 years ago today. In November 20, 1916, H.M.H.S. Britannic is on her way to the Mudros and has sailed through the night during the storm, it was a busy day for the nurses inside the ship and on deck. They rushed to get their work done. The crew are just doing their job in the bridge, others are just minding their own business and doing their jobs. Britannic has also see sunset which is the final time she’ll ever see. this is the last normal day of the vessel’s journey until tomorrow… (image belongs to their rightful owners.)

109 years ago today. In November 19, 1916, H.M.H.S. Britannic has left The Naples and now heading to the last stop, Mudros, Greece. It is still storming however so the ship is waiting for a break in the weather to depart. A service was held at 8:45 AM in the dining hall in D-Deck. Nurses were asked to report to their wards and sweep the area after which they are free to do whatever they want. One of the nurses went to the engine room and got a tour guide by Mr. Scott, the first engineer. At 4:30 PM, the ship eventually left Naples after a break in the harsh weather, the crew had faced a lot of difficulties in doing so with the waves. (Images belong to their rightful owners.)
