That Good News Girl

Look what came in the mail today! I will never stop being grateful for, and in awe of, the most incredible community in the entire social media world. 💜

I've been working toward this YouTube milestone for years, and reaching it feels like it's worth taking a moment to reflect on where this all started.


In early 2023, I was holed up in my room, sick. I was having a decidedly bad time. In fact, it kind of felt like I'd been having a bad time for a while. The previous several years weren't particularly kind to me.


Wanting to get out of my head, I turned on the TV. It was on a news station. Story after story, it was all just bad news.


That moment felt like a fork in the road. Was I going to wallow and just accept that everything must be terrible and nothing will get better?


Or was I going to try—really, genuinely try—to change my mindset and improve my life?


It couldn't be true that EVERYTHING was bad, could it?


So I searched for good news only. I found a story that made me smile. I thought it might be fun to write a silly little script about it and send it out into the algorithm ether from my account with 12 followers. Maybe it'd find a person or two and give them a smile too.


Turns out, it resonated with a lot of people—and here we are. I could never have predicted this, and I'll never take it for granted.
