Stephen A. Smith Says He’s Open to a 2028 Presidential Run

Could sports commentator Stephen A. Smith be thinking about the White House? According to the Black Information Network, the longtime ESPN personality says he is now open to running for president in 2028. This news comes after he had previously said politics wasn't for him.

Stephen A. recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the idea, writing, "Time to stop messing around. Life is great. Especially at ESPN and Disney. Hate the thought of being a politician. But sick of this mess. So I’m officially leaving all doors open."

He also spoke more about it during a live interview at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. There, he said, “I’ve been approached by people on Capitol Hill. I’ve been approached by elected officials in office, whether it’s governors or mayors. People have seriously asked me about it.”

Even though he isn’t excited about becoming a politician, Stephen A. said if things in the country don’t get better after the 2026 midterm elections, he will consider stepping up. While nothing is official, it’s clear he is taking the idea more seriously than ever before.
