Almost exactly a year ago we were delighted to be asked to take part in @abbeyroad' 90th Anniversary Sessions. We had previously recorded our 2009 album ‘Isla’ in Studio Two at Abbey Road, this time we were invited back to work with the extraordinary acoustics of Studio One.
Our composition Terrain (Extended) features an expanded version of our album ‘Terrain’ re-arranged for the Portico Quartet Ensemble – a subtle re-configuration of the band that features a string quartet. This allowed for the composition’s deeper textures and resonances to be augmented and more fully explored.
It was recorded in one continuous live take with the cameras rolling and we are so proud of the results. In many ways it feels like the definitive final form of this piece come to fruition.
