Make the best out of it.

Yan naging mantra ko ever since. Kaya tawag din sakin ay "chuckle chuckle" 😅 kasi I learned to appreciate even the smallest things. Happy lang palagi. Lalo sa travel, ayoko magpa-frustrate o kahit i-entertain yung thought na yun.

Don't get me wrong, I still get disappointed at times even ngayon. Wala kaming inabutan na cherry blossoms dito sa Akita at hindi kami naka-experience ng sobrang full bloom sa Tohoku region. Tapos ang dami pang sh*tty things na nangyari sa trip na ito (kwento ko soon 😅).

Pero yun nga, hindi ko muna siya ini-entertain at the moment, baka pag-uwi na lang? 😅 Or iniisip ko na lang na yung lows ko ngayon, walang wala pa sa highs ko dati. Kaya I should be grateful pa rin sa lahat ng nararanasan ko ngayon.

Yun lang. Reason din ito para balik-balikan ang Tohoku kasi sobrang ganda talaga.

Buti at may naabutan pa kaming full bloom sa Gappo Park 🌸

April 23, 2026.

Grabe, sobrang early ng cherry blossoms ngayon. Last year, same day full bloom pa lang sa Hirosaki Park, pero ngayon pagpunta namin, lagas na. Buti na lang may isang park pa na nakaabot kami sa peak.

Take note: Hakodate full bloom na rin ngayon at malapit na ang Sapporo. Dahil sa init at hangin, minsan 3 days lang after peak, lagas na agad.

Kaya special talaga ang Somei Yoshino 🌸

As promised, dito kami nag-stay sa Ochiai Soluna White House sa Shinjuku, Tokyo. Kapag nagfi-filter ako sa AGODA, I always choose "hotel" and "8+ guest rating". Surprisingly, lumabas itong property kaya akala ko hotel siya. Napansin ko din na mas mura siya compared sa ibang hotels during this peak spring season sa Tokyo, around Php 4,700+ per night for 2 people. Most hotels that time ay nasa Php 6k+, kaya pinatos ko na ito.

Una, kinabahan ako kasi nung chineck ko sa maps, parang walang katabing establishments at self check-in siya (no reception). As someone na nakapag-Airbnb na sa Fujikawaguchiko at Hakodate, iba yung feeling ng ganitong house-type property. Kaya if magbo-book kayo dito, message niyo sila days before your flight kasi ibibigay nila doon ang check-in details. After that, smooth naman ang process.

Pros:
- Surprisingly, mahimbing ang tulog ko dito kahit parang spring bed lang siya
- Very accommodating yung staff/owner (yung kausap namin sa chat). Nag-request kami ng extra pillow at one-day cleaning sa gitna ng long stay namin, at napagbigyan naman
- Maluwag yung bedroom, kasya yung large luggage namin
- Malinis naman overall
- Unli use ng washing machine + very effective bathroom dryer. Usually sa hotel or laundry shop kami naglalaba, pero dito sampay lang sa bathroom then pindot dry. Pagkagising, tuyo na agad. May detergent na din sila kaya gabi-gabi ako naglalaba 😅
- Mabilis ang internet
- Kumpleto ang amenities: personal hygiene items, disinfectant spray, cooking & dining utensils, vacuum, hangers, shampoo, conditioner, soap, dishwashing liquid, etc.
- Malapit ang saksakan sa bed
- Malaki ang ref at microwave
- Location: 5–7 mins walk from Ochiai Station, 10–15 mins to Higashi-Nakano Station, and 20–25 mins to Nakano Broadway
- Maraming masasarap na local restaurants nearby
- May malapit na 7-Eleven at Aeon grocery
- Very safe ang neighborhood. Nagpaiwan kami ng parcel sa harap ng door, pagdating namin late at night nandoon pa yun parcel 😅

Cons:
- Yung unit namin nasa 3rd floor, so hassle umakyat lalo na kung may malaking luggage. May ibang rooms naman sa 1st floor (friend namin doon nag-book), so better option yun if ayaw niyo mahirapan
- Hindi smart TV
- Walang free bottled water
- Hindi everyday ang cleaning
- Kaunti yung mga kilalang food chains nearby. Pinakamalapit na yung McDo, Matsuya, at Baskin Robbins. Yung Yoshinoya, Ikinari Steak, at Mister Donut ay konting lakad pa
- No reception (self check-in talaga)

Mas mura mag-Japan kung couple kayo kaya maghanap na kayo ng jowa or travel buddy! 😅

Last peak autumn, na-book namin itong CypressInn Tokyo near Shin Koiwa station for around Php 4,500+ for two per night or Php 2,250 lang per person. Kapag solo ka naman sa peak summer, madalas umaabot talaga ng Php 2,800+ per night.

May cheaper options naman for solo travelers like capsule hotels or hostels, so huwag mag-alala. Pero kung couple kayo, okay ito! Maluwag ang room, may microwave pa inside, at ang pinaka-gusto ko yung neighborhood: maraming affordable eateries na sa paligid, 400 yen lang may full meal na!

Super convenient din kasi malapit sa Shin Koiwa station madali papunta sa airport at central Tokyo.
