Three Bears Foundation Golf Day Raises Over £3,000 for Fellowship Research

The Three Bears Foundation is delighted to announce that its annual Charity Golf Day, held on 9 September at Sandburn Hall, successfully raised over £3,000 to support its Fellowship Research initiative into pancreatic cancer.

The event attracted strong support from local businesses and community partners, with 18 full rounds of golf played across the picturesque course at Sandburn Hall.

Participants and sponsors alike rallied around the Foundation’s mission, helping to drive funding for ground-breaking molecular research.

Speaking after the event, Mark Burn, Founding Trustee of the Three Bears Foundation, said:

“We are thrilled by the generosity and support shown by our local business community. To raise more than £3,000 in a single day through golf is a tremendous achievement…but more than that, it brings us ever closer to our goal of supporting vital research that could make a real difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer.”

The funds raised will be channelled into the Three Bears Research Fellowship, a three-year programme co-funded by York St John University. The research explores the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts in pancreatic tumours, and whether targeting them may improve chemotherapy responses.

The Foundation would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all players, sponsors, volunteers, and helpers who contributed to making the day such a success. In particular, the support from local businesses, both for sponsoring holes and entering teams, was instrumental in making the event a triumph.

Three Bears Foundation

The Three Bears Foundation is delighted to announce that £16,000 was raised in support of its work at the Brigantia Annual Partner Conference in York last week.

The local charity, which is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by pancreatic cancer, was chosen as Brigantia’s charity partner for the two-day event, hosted at The Milner Hotel.

The highlight of the evening dinner was a silent auction, where guests came together to show extraordinary generosity in aid of the cause.

Mark Burn, Founding Trustee of The Three Bears Foundation, shared his personal story and the mission behind the charity with attendees. Reflecting on the support received, he said he was “overjoyed and somewhat overwhelmed by such incredible generosity within the business network.”

The funds raised will make a meaningful difference in helping the charity continue its mission to raise awareness, provide support, and fund vital research into pancreatic cancer.

The Three Bears Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to Brigantia, its partners, and all attendees of the Annual Partner Conference for their outstanding support and generosity.
