Yo guys, it's Jacob, a.k.a. J-MASS! I'm a Masshole who's obsessed with urban exploration, geography, history, nature, and travel, with a special niche interest in New England! I typically post informative vlog-style videos exploring unique abandoned sites with fascinating and often-forgotten histories.

J-MASS

Once again guys, I unfortunately have no video scheduled for today—I’m sorry! But this reason is more severe, as this past weekend I contracted laryngitis and pharyngitis, and I basically lost my voice (I’m still having significant trouble speaking right now). Apparently my voice box is pretty inflamed!

Since I haven’t really been able to talk for the past few days, that meant no real way for me to work on the video I had planned. And since I’m still struggling with this very annoying illness, I’m not sure when I’ll get to it. So, unfortunately, this means yet another week with no video, until I recover—which is hopefully soon.

I will try to make it up to you all somehow! Maybe a week with two videos? Who knows! Once I start speaking normally again, I’ll get right back to recording and editing! But yeah, it pains me to miss two weeks worth of video uploads in such a short period of time—and this time was unavoidable. Sorry all!

Unfortunately, no video for today… 😭 I was working on it, but it was taking much longer to record and edit than I expected. I didn’t want to rush it out just to have a lower-quality, unfinished product out to fit my Tuesday uploading schedule, so I’ve decided to spend more time on it and release it next Tuesday instead. I’m sorry! This is the first Tuesday I’ve missed in many months, but quality control comes first!

One of the negatives with my Tuesday upload schedule is that I’m often limited on editing time, since I typically film on the weekend beforehand, and usually only have a day or two to fully edit the video. I’ve been thinking of pushing my upload day to Wednesday or Thursday, just to give myself an extra day or two to edit and improve quality. Any thoughts, opinions, or preferences on this?

Sorry guys, look forward to the video next Tuesday though! Maybe I’ll try to get an extra video out sometime soon to make it up to you all…

Good afternoon all! I hope you’re having a great weekend so far! 🙌

Just wanted to quickly say that I just dropped a new exclusive members-only video earlier! This is a casual, vlog-style exploration of the city of Erie, Pennsylvania, which I filmed last Saturday! I visited some cool places, from Presque Isle State Park to Bicentennial Tower!

If you’re not already a channel member, consider joining today to check out this exclusive video, and many more like it! I have a whole catalogue of exclusive videos there!

P.S. I will have a unique video coming out next Tuesday, much different than my usual output! I’m very interested to see the reception on this one—stay tuned!

Happy Friday evening, everyone! It’s been a while since my last community post, so I figured I’d give you all a channel update.

As many of you have probably noticed, I’ve been experimenting with quite a bit of non-urbex content. While I originally grew my channel around urban exploration, I’ve admittedly become burnt-out from the hobby, and have lost a bit of passion for it. There are many reasons for this, including high risk, personal safety, and oversaturation. After 3+ years of consistent urbex content, I’m looking to slowly shift forward and continue to try new things, all still within the realm of travel, geography, history, and New England.

Now don’t worry: I will still be doing urban exploration videos occasionally, since I know a lot of my audience likes them! There are still quite a few abandoned spots I’d love to film someday. That being said, for a while now, I’ve just been interested in trying out new video ideas and concepts. I understand that these videos don’t typically perform as well as the traditional urbex videos do, but that’s okay with me—this channel is built around my own passions, after all. Not clicks and views.

Anyways, throughout the remainder of 2025 and into 2026, look forward to new and unique videos! I will likely post new updates here and there detailing my plans for the channel, but for now, I just want to let you all know my honest thoughts and feelings. I cannot wait to show you all what I have in store! Hint: I’ll be diving more unto New England’s rich history!

P.S. I’m coming to you live from Upstate New York! I just visited Buffalo for a few hours, and now I’m on my way southwest towards Erie, Pennsylvania! I’ve never been before, but I’m excited to see what the city’s like! Anyways, enjoy this picture I took of Buffalo City Hall, possibly my all-time favorite art deco masterpiece.

Yooooo! Just a few things I want to mention on this fine Friday afternoon:

Firstly, I have a brand-new members-only video out now! This was one of the many abandoned spots I explored while in Upstate New York two weeks ago. It’s an abandoned Girl Scout camp in Sodus, NY. It’s a more calm and casual spot than the previous two Upstate bandos I covered, but still cool nonetheless! If you’re not yet a member, consider joining today and check it out!

Secondly, I plan on experimenting a bit with different video concepts and ideas over the next few weeks. I started it off with this past Tuesday’s video, where I participated in two paranormal investigations with ‪@NoahFaraday‬ in both Vermont and Maine. This next video, coming next Tuesday, will focus on an obscure New England landmark, delving into its mysterious history. I want to try more non-urbex videos and see how that goes, so stay tuned to see what I cover next! This will be a fun way to try new things and have a bit of fun with video themes.

Lastly, we’re almost to 10,000 subscribers! SO CLOSE! I plan on doing something special for that video. I’m leaning towards a new Q&A video, or a video on my personal history, but not sure yet. If you have any ideas, let me know! We’re only about 800 subscribers away, and I can’t believe it! 🎉

In just an hour, I’ll be on my way northward towards Maine. I’ll be visiting Monhegan Island in the Gulf of Maine tomorrow, which I’m very excited for! I’ve never been!

Happy Friday all, and have a great weekend!

If you guys haven’t watched it yet, definitely check out my latest video, where I explore the abandoned Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY! It’s a long video, but one of the most fascinating abandoned sites I’ve ever explored! I’m also very proud of the drone footage I took there LOL. Show it some love!

Also, as promised, I will have a SECOND video dropping tomorrow! Without spoiling it, this is another urban exploration video I filmed while in Upstate New York over the weekend. It’s another very cool spot with equally as interesting history! I haven’t done two back-to-back videos in one week in about a year-and-a-half, so don’t miss it!

There are a LOT of abandoned spots in New York that I’d love to cover over time… any suggestions?

Whaddup, everybody! It’s almost Labor Day weekend… any fun plans? I know I got some!

From tomorrow until Monday, I’ll be in Upstate New York, traveling to different cities and towns. I’ll be exploring the Hudson River Valley, Albany, Syracuse, the Finger Lakes, and Rochester. And, if all goes well, I’ll be filming several videos during my travels! Let’s just say that I’m planning on blessing you all with a double-feature surprise next week—two videos in one week!

In other news, I’m also EXTREMELY close to 10,000 subscribers! As I write this post, I’m at roughly 9.1k subscribers… just a little under 900 more until I reach this major milestone! I can’t believe I’m almost there! I want to do something special for this major achievement, and one potential idea is to film a brand-new Q&A video. For reference, my last Q&A video, in 2024, was released when I had about 2.5k subscribers. I have accrued a much larger audience since then, which means many more potential questions to be asked! Let me know if you’d all be interested in this!

Anyways, I’m off to get ready for my trip. Have a great holiday weekend everyone! And look forward to some extra J-MASS content coming soon! 🎉

🚨 NEW MEMBERS-ONLY VIDEO ALERT! 🚨

I just dropped a brand-new exclusive members-only video today! In this one, I explore an abandoned property in Massachusetts that was once an auto body shop and a home! It’s a small, but interesting site, with much left behind! Consider becoming a channel member today to check this video out (and much more)!

Tomorrow, I’ll be filming yet another challenge video—but this one was a viewer suggestion from my previous livestream! I think it’ll be a very unique one… any ideas what it could be? 👀

Very excited to see how the remainder of 2025 pans out as I try out new video ideas, topics, and concepts! I’m hoping to make this year my most experimental! And, of course, I’m always open to ideas and suggestions!

Stay tuned everyone! And have a great weekend!

Good afternoon, all! Hope you’re having a great Sunday! I’m coming to you live from Cushing Island here in Portland, Maine… can you take a wild guess what my next video will be about? 🤔

About two-and-a-half hours ago, I dropped a brand-new exclusive members-only video, where I hike the stunning north peak of the Uncanoonuc Mountains in Goffstown, New Hampshire! Join me through this scenic hike by becoming a member today and watching! If you already are a channel member, thank you SO much!

Next week I’m off to Canada—more specifically, the Atlantic Provinces! My trip will cover New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island! I’m excited to see what it has in store, but if any of you have ideas of what I should explore while I’m over there, please let me know! For reference, I’ll be staying in Moncton, NB; Halifax, NS; and Charlottetown, PE! 🇨🇦

See you guys soon with some great new videos dropping over the next few Tuesdays!

P.S. This also means I’ll be in Maine three weekends in a row…

What’s up everyone, happy Friday! Yet another weekend of gross, rainy weather coming up… yippee. 🙄

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, but I’m thinking of doing a livestream on Sunday evening! Sunday, June 8th, to be exact! Not sure what time yet, but it will likely be at or after 6:00pm EST.

For a while now, I’ve been wanting to make some major changes to this channel, and feel that the best way to relay those changes to you all is in person, via livestream. Plus, I’d love to hear some community feedback regarding my ideas! Been thinking about this for a while now, and I’m long overdue to get it started!

Please be sure to tune in to this Sunday’s livestream, sometime in the evening, likely at or after 6:00pm EST! I will post a reminder as it gets closer!

P.S. Check out my latest video if you haven’t, where I explore an abandoned Cold War-era radar base in the remote mountains of northeast Vermont! It was such an incredible site, and a fun place to film!

P.S.P.S. Be sure to give my friend and frequent collaborator ‪@NoahFaraday‬ some love on his channel! He filmed with me on that video, and very soon, he will be releasing his own version. His channel is INCREDIBLE (his videos are very well shot and edited), and he deserves more viewership! I wanna see his channel grow!
