And I took home a couple of new family members, 2 gorgeous purple salivas, because I hear Australian Native Bees are attracted to the colour purple, and we have not one purple plant! But now we do! 😉
Canning video of my first ever harvest of tomatoes in 2025, is finally uploaded!!! This was over 2 HOURS of footage I managed to cut down to just 39 mins! I've included LOTS of chapters, so feel free to just watch the parts relevant to you, but the recipe at 30:44 is a WINNER!!! So so SOOOOOOO good!
Just harvested the last of my Roma’s and will be canning my whole season of tomatoes tomorrow!

As this is my first ever time making my own tomato sauce, I’m going to try 3 different methods to see which texture we like for the final product.
Method 1 - using a mill to remove many of the seeds and skins Method 2 - using a stick blender Method 3 - keeping the final product as is with no seed/skin removal
Then I can test all three and let you know which result is my fav!
I was so hungry I didn’t think much of this, but my husband saw me making my lunch (he doesn’t eat many fruits and/or veggies!) and said, “you realise you created all of that all by yourself?!”
He was right! I baked the sourdough, and was listening to one of my favourite garden/chef YouTubers @gazoakleychef , who was making a bruschetta from his home grown tomatoes 🍅, so I grabbed a medley of red cherry, yellow pear, sunrise bumblebee, fuzzy peach (Wapsipinicon) and some fresh basil 🌿
After the first bite I realised it was missing something so drizzled some balsamic vinegar my younger brother bought me back from Italy and this was YUUUUMMMM!!! 😋

Officially saying goodbye to Summer with our first rain in Melbourne in weeks!
Have now removed the last tomato vine and remaining cucumbers, and have over 3 hours of footage to edit for my next video!
Hoping to have it ready sometime this week!
