The music and visuals are generated with the help of AI. However, the development of the both the sound and visuals is led by a human, with carefully planned and researched inputs as well as meticulous post-production edits and adjustments. It's all a part of what this channel is about: To explore and understand better the capabilities and potential of AI as a tool to support human creativity.

Club Magie Noir
This one began with two upright basses. And not much more.
The idea was to let one bass establish the weight and momentum while the second moved independently. Add tight drums, sharp hi-hat, percussion, dissonant harmony, and trumpet above it. Gradually, Good Chops came together like an unexpected recipe: soulful jazz with sharp elbows.
There were experiments with jazz genres, stripped-back ensembles, track mashups, measures to deal with instruments that appeared uninvited, and other negotiations with an AI that has opinions of its own. The public mix is the finished record.

The timing wasn't ideal for this mix. It came together after the music platform wrapped up a major update and initiated a number of big policy changes. The impact was immediate and real (some of that drama appears in the latest Weekend Jazz Workshop available to Members). What all of this meant for The Capri Set is that the tracks are elegant in every way, polished to the extreme post-production, sanitized of unwanted vocals and random instruments. This is another mix that started with a different concept in mind. As I worked through a couple of different theories I had in mind, the results moved in a different direction. It became an atmosphere of its own, the kind of music I prefer listening to while I work.
