For the past 6 months, Jeremy Thompson and I have been working on an extremely in-depth ROM hack of Spyro 3, and we're finally ready to show it to the public - Spyro 3.5: Return to the Forgotten Realms will be releasing on Saturday, 8th July 2023.
The hack includes totally changed level visuals, an entirely new set of egg placements, and a lot of additional surprises. It's aimed at very experienced players so it won't be easy, but an "Exploration" version with somewhat simpler progression will be coming soon too.
This has been the culmination of our blood, sweat and tears since January, and we're both really, really excited to see people play it. Additional contributions to the visuals, voice acting and soundtrack have been provided by CrystalFissure, Shemp, Pepper, and Composer.
Hi! Later this week I’m doing a little release of a few builds, in collaboration with a couple other people. A bunch of different game franchises will feature in this release, the majority of them being games released from 1997 to 2000. I’ll be streaming some pre-recorded gameplay of a small handful of these games here on YouTube, run time is around 45 minutes. Stream is expected to start at 6pm BST on Saturday 17th.
I’m currently working hard on the next 3 videos, the first of which I’m aiming to release in a couple weeks time.
I’ve also been doing occasional Twitch streams, and most recently streamed some strange Spyro translation hacks. Check it out if you’re interested: www.twitch.tv/videos/1575708188
Nobody's actually uploaded a dump of this press disc yet, that I know of, so I've gone ahead and done it myself. All of the assets within this disc have been publicly available in the past, but it's important that the full disc is preserved, regardless. Interestingly enough, there's some references to Crash 3 in the metadata, perhaps referencing an earlier Crash 3 press disc?
Hello everyone! I've just released a number of development materials courtesy of Craig Stitt, including the initial pitch document that birthed what we would eventually know as Spyro the Dragon. This is the first in a series of development materials that I (and a collaborator!!) will be releasing over the next few months. Stay tuned! 👀 twitter.com/hwd405/status/1396131942001627141?s=20
I am very, *very* happy to announce the release of three new Spyro 2 and 3 prototypes, as part of the Hidden Palace's Project Deluge. I've been waiting a long, long time to show this off to everyone, so I'm really glad everyone's finally able to experience them! I've already prepared a hell of a lot TCRF documentation on the build, that'll all be going up over the next few hours. There's a few unfinished videos which hopefully you'll see over the next few weeks, too. Hidden Palace links are below, note that the builds won't be immediately downloadable:

One year ago today, I released the June 15th 1998 Prototype of Spyro the Dragon - and honestly, I cannot believe it's been a full year already. I've really enjoyed seeing the happiness that this brief snippet of the game's development has brought to everyone, and I'm continuing to work hard every day to ensure that I have more early builds from the original trilogy to show everyone in the future.
