One Day More Aboard
We sold up and bought a narrowboat! After living in Texas for 10 years, we sold almost everything and moved back home to England to live on a narrowboat and cruise the canals of the UK with our westies, exploring so much of our country that we have never seen before. We followed the build of our brand new narrowboat virtually with the amazing guys at Russell Narrowboats, and only got to see her for the first time 2 weeks before we launched in September 2021! We took a leap of faith and it's working out beautifully!

Happy New Year and what a sunrise it was to wake up to!
Looking back, 2025 was a year where a lot of our plans ended up thrown in the canal. Not how we expected things to go, and we have perfected the art of being flexible!
It was also the year we said goodbye to our lovely old boy, Hamish. Life on the boat feels very different without him.
We want to say a genuine thank you to everyone who’s watched, commented, messaged, and supported us this year. And a special thank you to viewers Sarah and David for the lovely bauble to remember Hamish, it took pride of place on our tree ❤️
Here’s hoping 2026 brings steadier times, even though we are quite sure how that is going to look right now!

You will have seen our friend Phil many times in our videos, and shared the excitement of his new boat a few months ago. Here’s his very scary account of the massive breach on the Llangollen Canal in Whitchurch in the early hours of this morning, when he woke to up the sound of crewing ropes of rushing water and realised that something was seriously wrong and went to wake other boaters 😢❤️

Woke up this morning to awful news from our friends Paul and Anthony and Phil on the Llangollen Canal at Whitchurch. A massive breach in the early hours has caused a huge sinkhole and several boats have been lost. Their boats are safe but on the bottom at a huge tilt just yards away.
Our hearts are with our friends and everyone affected by this. We’re incredibly relieved to know that everyone is safe, but the shock and devastation of seeing homes and boats disappear is hard to comprehend.

We collected Hamish’s ashes and he’s is now back on board with us, together with Jasper, and when the time is right we will scatter them together ❤️
A huge thank you to Taylor Vets for their wonderful care and kindness at such a sad time, especially the beautiful paw prints they made for us. Such a thoughtful touch.

Spot the westie! Thank you to everyone who’s been asking how Poppy is doing since we said goodbye to Hamish. She is much more herself now, and we think she’s enjoying all the extra attention. The good thing that we had been a little worried about, is that she has been absolutely fine being left on her own. We tried for a hour or so with Gill next door keeping an ear out, and she was as quiet as a mouse, and now is happy with a treat as we close the doors and say goodbye 😊
