Today is the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples – a day dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the cultures, rights and voices of Indigenous communities around the globe. 🌎✨

On this occasion, we’d like to recommend a documentary that spotlights Indigenous groups in northern Mexico known for their incredible ability to run long distances: the Rarámuri (“those who run fast”). For them, running isn’t just a sport: it’s a spiritual practice, a cultural tradition, a form of resistance, and a way to connect with the land all at once. But today, the Rarámuri have to face various struggles to preserve their way of life…

🎥 « Running for the Future », a full-length documentary that shares the story of two young indigenous athletes as they prepare for a race, while shedding light on the Rarámuri community.

🌉 What if one of the world's most extraordinary bridges was rebuilt... by hand, every single year?

Hidden in the highlands of southern Peru, the Q'eswachaka Bridge is a living testament to Inca engineering and tradition.

Each year, hundreds of villagers come together to weave an entirely new bridge using nothing but natural plant fibers—a centuries-old ritual passed down from generation to generation.

More than just a way to cross a canyon, Q'eswachaka represents resilience, cooperation, and the enduring spirit of a community determined to keep its heritage alive.

🎥 This documentary takes you inside one of the last surviving traditions of the Inca world, where ancient knowledge isn't preserved in museums—it's still practiced today.

💬 Here's a question for you: Do you think traditions like this should be preserved exactly as they are, or adapted to the modern world? Let us know in the comments!

Meet the SLICE Team ✨

Today, we’d like you to meet Georges, YouTube Channel Manager for the Digital team at ZED, the company behind the SLICE channels.

Georges works on different tasks, from editing videos and designing eye-catching thumbnails to crafting titles across several of our platforms. 🎥

What does he enjoy most about his role?
“I love sharing documentaries I’m truly passionate about, especially historical ones. It’s even more rewarding when I see that they resonate with viewers who care about the same subjects.”

His favorite SLICE documentary?
“It’s Seeds of Hunger, which follows the journalist Gareth Jones, who traveled to the USSR in the 1930s. It’s powerful and deeply moving. It really stays with you. The documentary also follows Jones on his last trip to Mongolia, a country I love. 🌏

And you? 💭

2025 has been an incredible year for the SLICE channels, and we want to sincerely thank you. ❤️

This year, the SLICE universe grew:
• With SLICE Doku, our first German-language channel
• With SLICE Historia, continuing to bring documentaries to Spanish-speaking audiences
• And with a global community of 3.2 million curious minds across 17 SLICE channels, watching in English, French, Spanish, and German 🌍

You showed the most curiosity for stories about history, human journeys, and the world beneath the sea, and your thoughtful comments turned many documentaries into real conversations.

Thank you for watching, sharing, and taking the time to engage with these stories.
