Adivasi Lives Matter is a platform that works towards amplifying Adivasi and tribal voices of India. Through Adivasi Awaaz training, we encourage indigenous youths of Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Tripura to talk about their stories about culture, history, community and traditional knowledge.
Adivasi Lives Matter
Remembering Laxman Nayak on his martyrdom day.
A fearless Adivasi leader from Odisha, he mobilised tribal communities in Koraput during India’s freedom struggle, spreading political awareness and social reform inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress.
During the Quit India Movement, his leadership ignited resistance among Adivasi communities against colonial rule.
Falsely implicated in a murder case by the British, he was sentenced to death and hanged on 29 March 1943 becoming a symbol of sacrifice and resistance.
His legacy reminds us that the freedom struggle was not just fought in cities, but deep within forests and villages led by voices that history often forgets. ✊🏽

Poetry is not just written. It is lived.
Here’s a strong, poetic caption for social media, keeping the essence of Mahadev Toppo’s poem intact:
On World Poetry Day, we remember—
poetry is not just written, it is grown.
For poets like Mahadev Toppo,
to write is to plant, to protect, to resist.
A poem is not separate from the forest—
it breathes through trees, rivers, and mountains.
It carries stories, struggles, and survival.
When a poet saves nature,
he is also saving language, culture, and community.
🌿 In every tree planted, there is a poem.
In every poem, a forest lives.

Remembering Savitribai Phule, a revolutionary educator who challenged the deeply rooted structures of caste and patriarchy in 19th-century India. She worked tirelessly to ensure education for girls, Dalits, and marginalized communities and also stood for the dignity of widows and the oppressed.
Her life remains a powerful example of resistance and social transformation.

Adivasi women have always been at the forefront of resistance and courage.
From fighting colonial rule to protecting their land, forests, and communities, they have played a powerful role in shaping history. The women featured in this carousel are just a few examples of that bravery.
There are many such Adivasi women whose sacrifices and struggles remain unheard and unrecorded in mainstream history.
This International Women’s Day, we honour not only these known heroes but also countless unnamed women who fought with courage and dignity.

Every time we laugh at a “joke” about someone’s face, skin, food, or accent — we choose a side.
Every time we stay silent when someone is called “Chinki,” “Junglee,” — we normalize discrimination.
Zero discrimination is not a slogan.
It is a daily decision.
A decision to not reduce people to stereotypes.
To not erase Indigenous identities.
To not shame cultures we don’t understand.
India’s diversity cannot be a celebration on stage
and humiliation in the streets.
This #ZeroDiscriminationDay, ask yourself:
— What biases do I ignore?
— What language do I tolerate?
— What dignity am I protecting?
Stand with Northeast communities.
Stand with Adivasis.
Stand for dignity — not selectively, but consistently.
