Adivasi Lives Matter is a platform that works towards amplifying Adivasi and tribal voices of India. Through Adivasi Awaaz training, we encourage indigenous youths of Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Tripura to talk about their stories about culture, history, community and traditional knowledge.
Adivasi Lives Matter
Adivasi women have always been at the forefront of resistance and courage.
From fighting colonial rule to protecting their land, forests, and communities, they have played a powerful role in shaping history. The women featured in this carousel are just a few examples of that bravery.
There are many such Adivasi women whose sacrifices and struggles remain unheard and unrecorded in mainstream history.
This International Women’s Day, we honour not only these known heroes but also countless unnamed women who fought with courage and dignity.

Every time we laugh at a “joke” about someone’s face, skin, food, or accent — we choose a side.
Every time we stay silent when someone is called “Chinki,” “Junglee,” — we normalize discrimination.
Zero discrimination is not a slogan.
It is a daily decision.
A decision to not reduce people to stereotypes.
To not erase Indigenous identities.
To not shame cultures we don’t understand.
India’s diversity cannot be a celebration on stage
and humiliation in the streets.
This #ZeroDiscriminationDay, ask yourself:
— What biases do I ignore?
— What language do I tolerate?
— What dignity am I protecting?
Stand with Northeast communities.
Stand with Adivasis.
Stand for dignity — not selectively, but consistently.

Nearly half of the world’s languages are at risk.
Language loss is not accidental — it is caused by shame, exclusion, and silence.
On International Mother Language Day, let’s choose to speak, teach, and protect our mother languages.
A language survives only when it is spoken.

Warm wishes on the vibrant festival of Oriah 🌾
Celebrated by the Wancho community of Arunachal Pradesh after the completion of jhum cultivation, Oriah marks a beautiful pause after hard work — from Ozok rituals, clearing and burning of fields, to the sowing of seeds.
It is a time of rest, gratitude, and thanksgiving. Rice beer Ju is offered to the almighty Jowan for a bountiful harvest and the well-being of the entire community. The sacred bamboo post, Zangvaan, erected at Zangvaan Tong, stands tall as a symbol of Wancho culture, faith, unity, and prosperity.
May this Oriah bring abundant harvests, strength, and collective happiness to every home. 🌿

Adivasi Lives Matter
The soil of Jharkhand still echoes his name.
Budhu Bhagat was not just a leader he was a movement. A fearless tribal warrior who led the Kol Rebellion and the Larka Rebellion against brutal British oppression.
From the villages of Tiko and Silagai, he united Adivasi communities and inspired them to rise for their jal, jangal, zameen and dignity. His resistance was not powered by weapons alone, but by courage, unity, and an unbreakable connection to the land.
Even after witnessing the sacrifice of his own sons, daughters, and hundreds of followers, he refused to surrender. He chose resistance over submission.
In 1832, he attained martyrdom but legends don’t die.
They become the heartbeat of the land they fought for.
