What do you listen to while you code?
Some people listen to focus playlists, while others need absolute silence. While Mike seems to code during deep work in mostly silence, Matt finds that his productivity can be sustained longer by having a TV show playing in the background.
Side note: We've been experimenting with this shorter form "Web News" episode type with video for the first time! We hope you've been enjoying it and would love to hear any feedback you have.

đź’ "Interrupt work as often as possible" - How many times have you been interrupted by emails and Slack messages today?
đź’ "Arrange meetings when there is more important work to be done" - Is your team bogged down by endless meetings?
đź’ "Hold 'speeches', bring up irrelevant issues" - Has your team been struggling with motivation lately? Did a recent townhall meeting try to raise your spirits without trying to fix the actual issues you face?
The quotes above are not from any sort of office manual, they're from a sabotage manual. Back in WWII, the predecessor of the CIA (Office of Strategic Services) wrote up the "Simple Sabotage Field Manual" for those looking to sabotage the enemy war machine by grinding productivity to a halt in the workplace. Why is it then that many of the concepts covered in the manual describe an average day at the office?
In our latest podcast, we explored burnout and how many modern offices are set up in ways that make little sense from a productivity standpoint. Do we really need all these administrative jobs?
