Had the amazing experience of hearing the Horizon Ensemble of Boston play Tailleferre's Piano Concerto (using the edition I published)! I was honestly a bit teary to hear her brilliantly joyous and underrated piece come to life. (The score is on IMSLP imslp.org/wiki/Piano_Concerto_No.1_%28Tailleferre%… )

Yuja Wang playing Rautavaara PC 1 with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra! It was an absolute delight to finally hear and see this fiery performance of the piece that inspired me to start this channel over 10 years ago, as well as Boulanger's brilliant D'un matin de printemps!

Rest in peace Seiji Ozawa, a great advocate of new music, whose achievements include conducting the premiere of Messiaen's Saint François d'Assise in 1983.
Here is a score video with Ozawa conducting one of my favorite pieces, Takemitsu's A Flock Descends into the Pentagonal Garden, during his time with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. (Full album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XvSr...)

This is one of the most colorful and skillfully orchestrated pieces I have heard as of late. The ending especially is just gorgeous. Please give it a listen!

Rest in Peace, Kaija Saariaho
Her music is wondrously iridescent and colorful. Her magnum opus "L'Amour de loin" is a definite must-listen if you have not heard it already. And, though perhaps a rare treasure, "Saarikoski Songs" was one of the most beautiful pieces I heard performed last year.

Messiaen's masterpiece Turangalîla performed by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra! (with Marc-André Hamelin on piano and Nathalie Forget on ondes.) Really such an exhilarating experience! Nathalie even gave a demo of the ondes after the concert
