"First, an artist must concentrate and visualize his concept. I've gotta embrace the marble! I've gotta sniff the marble! I've gotta lick the marble! I've gotta wash the marble! I've gotta date the marble! I've gotta be the marble!" -Spongebob SquarePants
What started as a search for "The Perfect Shot" for Tones Photography turned into something bigger.
While in Colorado, Brian and I set out from the NCAR Trail in Boulder with a simple goal: find an incredible photo location. We had no idea how long the hike would take, what we'd find, or how much we'd learn along the way.
As the trail climbed higher, our goal shifted. Suddenly, it wasn't about the photo, it was about seeing if we could make it all the way to Mallory's Cave!
There were plenty of moments when our legs, lungs, and common sense suggested we turn around. But step by step, we kept going.
We didn't actually reach the cave itself because the trail was closed, but we went as far as nature would allow us. And honestly, that's what made the experience so meaningful.
The mountain reminded us that sometimes the destination isn't the lesson. The lesson is discovering what you're capable of when you keep moving forward, even when the path gets difficult.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Facebook Live and cheered us on during the hike. Having our community with us made the journey even more special.

Before the lessons, performances and confidence: there's curiosity! One of the reasons we believe so strongly in music education is because we've seen what happens when young people are given permission to explore, create, and make a little noise. Every student starts with a moment like this.
