১৮৯৩ সালে ধনী জমিদার হৃষিকেশ দাস এই প্রাসাদটি নির্মাণ করেন। বলা হয়, একবার তিনি একটি অভিজাত বাগানবাড়িতে অপমানিত হওয়ার পর নিজের মর্যাদা দেখানোর জন্য এই রাজকীয় প্রাসাদটি তৈরি করেন।

প্রাসাদটির চারপাশে ছিল মনোমুগ্ধকর গোলাপের বাগান, যার জন্যই এর নাম রাখা হয় রোজ গার্ডেন। ইউরোপীয় স্থাপত্যশৈলীতে নির্মিত এই ভবনের রাজকীয় সিঁড়ি, নকশা করা বারান্দা ও সুশোভিত কক্ষগুলো আজও অতীতের ঐশ্বর্যের কথা মনে করিয়ে দেয়।

পরবর্তীতে এই ভবনটি কিনে নেন খান বাহাদুর কাজী আবদুর রশিদ। তার সময়েই এটি ঢাকার রাজনৈতিক ও সামাজিক কর্মকাণ্ডের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কেন্দ্র হয়ে ওঠে।

বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য, ১৯৪৯ সালে এখানেই প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয় আওয়ামী মুসলিম লীগ, যা পরে হয়ে ওঠে বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম প্রধান রাজনৈতিক দল।

আজও Rose Garden Palace দাঁড়িয়ে আছে ঢাকার অতীতের গৌরব ও ইতিহাসের নীরব সাক্ষী হয়ে।

মাটির পুতুল তৈরির নির্দিষ্ট কোনো একজন উদ্ভাবকের নাম নেই। এর ইতিহাস হাজার বছরের পুরোনো। প্রাচীন মেসোপটেমিয়া, মিশর ও সিন্ধু সভ্যতায় মাটি দিয়ে দেবদেবীর মূর্তি ও খেলনা তৈরি করা হতো। বাংলায়ও লোকজ সংস্কৃতির অংশ হিসেবে গ্রামাঞ্চলে মাটির পুতুল বানানো শুরু হয় বহু আগে। ধর্মীয় উৎসব, পূজা-পার্বণ আর শিশুদের খেলনার জন্য এই শিল্প জনপ্রিয় হয়ে ওঠে। সময়ের সাথে কারিগররা নানান রূপ ও আকারে পুতুল তৈরি করেছেন। তাই মাটির পুতুল শুধু একটি খেলনা নয়—এটি আমাদের ঐতিহ্য, সংস্কৃতি আর ইতিহাসের জীবন্ত নিদর্শন।🏺✨
