Curmudge inn Alaska

Welcome to the Curmudge Inn. We are Sarah, Rob, Mishka and Zeus. We live remote and off grid on a small homestead and soon to be B&B/cabin rental Located 13 miles north of the frontier town of Talkeetna Alaska.

Our goal is to share our daily life with you all. We will show you the different things we have to deal with on a regular basis. Want the exp of being remote/off grid in Alaska? get in touch.

The only way to and from the Inn is either by jet boat on river or by taking an amazing ride on the world famous Alaska Railroad Hurricane Turn train. There are no roads or tails that lead to our location. The Hurricane Turn is one of only a few whistle/flag stop trains left in the world. Contact use for trains summer schedule. Winter guest times are limited as the train runs less.

Aska An Alaskan Podcast Feb 1st 2026. Special Guest Chip Hailstone from Life Below Zero. Here is a little info about Chip

Chip (Edward) Hailstone grew up in North West Montana. Chip worked as a ranch/farm hand and enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends. In 1988 Chip came to South East Alaska and decided to move to Alaska. In 1989 Chip went to the Arctic to visit his mother and brother.

Chip attended school to be an Auto mechanic , when he left school he went to work in a gold mine. The gold mine work was seasonal and Chip decided to hang out in the around in the off season and started trapping, hunting and fishing and had a blast doing it.

Chip met his wife Agnes in Kotzebue and a few years later they got married. Later in life Chip and Agnes became regulars on the hit TV show Life Below Zero. Chip and Agnes showed so many of us a very different way of life.

Want to know more about the Hailstones? Come join us for the next episode of Ask An Alaskan. Line up your questions now for Chip. Agnes may also join but I am not 100 % sure as of yet.

Hey everyone. This weeks guest on Ask An Alaskan is Justin Peterson. Here is a little about Justin.

Growing up in Oregon the River was my favorite place. As I grew up things kept changing and it was more difficult to do the things I enjoyed doing. Opportunities were difficult to find unless you made your own or knew someone that could open a door for you.

Gold mining is my go-to activity and always will be. Every trip or time off is thinking about where or when I could prospect and dig next.

An opportunity to work in Alaska came and knowing the possibilities of the Gold in Alaska, better tax advantages, and the bigger mountains. I had to take the opportunity. With my family we pursued Alaska. I like to say "I came here to embrace Alaska. Not change it." and those words are still true to this day. Living in Alaska has not been the easiest, but that is the nature of Alaska. 20 years later Alaska is still home.

Justin was also on the TV show Gold Rush White Water - Season 6. We hope that you all will join us this Sunday at 4pm AKST.

Well Mother Earth decided to give us all a wake up call this morning. Was making coffee and the house started to shake and sway violently.
