The Mk4 Toyota Supra made 276 HP in Japan and 320 HP in the U.S.
That doesn’t automatically mean Toyota was lying about the Japanese car. The U.S. version actually had meaningful differences, and because it didn’t have to play by Japan’s Gentleman’s Agreement, Toyota had room to push the platform further.
That’s what makes the Supra such a perfect example of the loopholes behind Japan’s 276 HP era.
