The biggest MISTAKE most new adult day centers make is they don’t spend enough time marketing 90 days before they open.

Some states may prevent you from advertising before you are licensed but there is no reason you cannot get community partners involved in the process!!

This is an example of one of the ways we build relationships with community partners.

We get them involved in the journey 90 days before we open!

Every Friday we take a tour with 3-10 different referral partners! We begin building relationships, sharing the vision, educating them on our services!

On opening day we will have already pre-signed 50 new members because of the work we do before we open!!

Most adult day operators forget this important step and then it takes a lot longer to build momentum!!

The most important time is 90 days before you open!!

That is when the business development and marketing efforts count the most!!

Get out there and start building new relationships!!

I am grateful for the opportunity to speak at this years National Adult Day Services Association conference in Chicago, Sept 27-29th.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that there are two things that most adult day directors and owners don’t do.

1. They don’t have clear Key Performace Indicators for their adult day center. They may know what KPI stands for but they’ve never written down which ones matter to their center.

2. In other cases, they may know their KPI’s but they don’t track or measure them on a weekly basis.

Adult day is currently one of the smallest industries in the senior care space. Therefore, most adult day centers are smaller mom and pop operations.

As a result, there is not a lot of formal leadership training or education to support the “business” side of adult day.

Most owners and operators have huge hearts, love taking care of others and making a difference in the world.

However, they may lack certain business acumen which limits their growth.

In this session, we will learn how to create KPI’s that matter and drive revenue.

Once clearly defined, we’ll review ways to track and measure them in order to make better decisions over time!
