Obscurités Japonaises

Introducing the Japanese underground music works from my collection. Most of them were collected during my stay in Japan as a graduate student in the 2000s, but I have been fortunate enough to have the help of Japanese friends after I left Japan, so some of the more recent works may be included. The genres are diverse, and some of the videos are uploaded in genres you may not like... forgive me, it's just my taste!

[Relationship between excessive monopoly of art and the art's stagnation?]

This channel has received several copyright strikes or warnings. What is interesting is that about 80% of them are from Metal artists or labels (even though there aren't many Metal videos on this channel).

Isn't this an interesting (or even funny) phenomenon, considering the stagnation and aging of Metal music scene in that country?

[Answer to a question submitted to Questionbox]

Yes I have two of their early demo cassettes and in fact I've already made videos. They will be published in the near future!

A few days ago, this channel reached 1000 subscribers. Thank you all my friends for your support!
To celebrate this achievement, I'd like to share one of the most mysterious records from my collection.
Hope you enjoy it, though I suspect most of this channel's subscribers won't be impressed with this style of music... well, it's just a funny little gift!

[Answer to a question submitted to Questionbox]

I never recorded their footage. It's a shame that I can't show you Rare's beautiful appearance and Chaos9's bizarre performance...
Back then, it wasn't easy to take long pictures with a smartphone like we can now, and I wasn't so keen on recording that I bought a video camera.
If I had known that I would be sharing videos on YouTube in the future, I would have bought a high-performance camera!

Thank you for your question (don't worry, I don't think it's rude).
Unfortunately, I've never even heard of that band. I'm going to ask my friend metal maniacs living in Japan, but there may be little hope...

In celebration of this channel getting 500 subscribers and 3000 watching hours in a year, I've posted another video featuring NATIONSTATE. When this channel got 100 subscribers, I posted the CD version. This time you can enjoy the LP version. No matter how many times I listen to it, this album excites me to the core.

A Story of "Mysterious" Objection

One of the videos I uploaded got a copyright strike and was immediately removed by YouTube.
I am by no means complaining about the strike itself. But I have to say that the behavior of the petitioner is, to say the least, "mysterious." That is because...

The very same content I uploaded had already been published by another channel that has 60 times more subscribers than my channel, and that video has got 40 times more views than mine, but the petitioner seems to have done nothing about it. That video clearly states the name of the work in its title, so if the petitioner was able to find my video, he/she should be able to find that video as well.

This is the full story of the "mysteriousness."
If you really want to "protect" your work, wouldn't it be more effective to object to more influential channels with more subscribers and viewers? Well, that may be a different story, if your real goal is something else...

Obscurités Japonaises

In celebration of this channel getting 100 subscribers, I've posted a video showcasing one of my very favorite bands, NATIONSTATE.
They were active in Osaka in the mid-2000s. Though I was staying near Nagoya at the time, I tried to visit Osaka whenever they played there.

Just found a good live recording of CORRUPTED. I was in Japan right around this time and saw several of their live performances, and it was just such a chaotic and numbing experience.
