Ahoy everybody!

Here’s the highlights:
1. New video coming out tomorrow at 10am EST: Mephisto does DMT on JRE
2. We haven’t disappeared, we’ve been scrubbing up a business plan so we can do this thing right
3. This thing being driving games and technology forward by poking fun at them while helping the maximum number of new games into the aether

It’s been a New York minute but we’re still here and it looks like you are too… Kudos!

Y’all are probably wondering what in the Sam Hill we’ve been up to the last little while and the truth is we got sucked down a rabbit hole. Several of them, all at once.

We stalled on a bunch of videos because there was no love in the work. We shit-canned the Ubisoft video because it felt like there was scathing criticism and virtue-signalling faux pas a-plenty but nothing constructive to say beyond “you know if you base a game in Feudal Japan, Japanese people are gonna play it and if you make the male Hero Character non-Japanese that means the only male Japanese characters left are the bad guys, right?” And that wasn’t worth our time. Or yours.

So what is?


We started this channel because we love the power of technology to amplify human imagination. Because we love games. The jankier the better. The way the top 30% or so of them are made and sold make us queasy but we wanna stop being angry all the time so we’re gonna start talking about the little games we love, plug into a community of people who want to make games and make more games ourselves.


We also dig screwing around with the new AI generation tools as they come up and seeing what kind of weird horizons they take us to.

Which brings me to our next video:

What started out as a simple shred of the Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred live action trailer devolved into a hilarious Audio Description version that we still thought wasn’t funny enough on its own to publish. Once we thought about adding Director’s Commentary it wasn’t long before we had Mephisto down in Vietnam Directing and bitching about the experience to Joe Rogan- we just had no idea how we would make it happen visually as no one left on the team can animate their way out of a burlap sack.

Then we found Hailuo AI… now this sure as shit ain’t an endorsement but this freebie site will let you take any still image and a prompt then spit out 6s of video doing just that.

We made a few hundred before we started stitching them together and decided we would ditch the live action trailer angle and go full bore on a DMT driven ride to the signal behind all this bad noise we’ve all been caught up in lately.

To everyone who is worried about us being ratioed by reaction videos we'd like to say: "Thanks but it's all good for now Dude!"

The way bigger problem at the moment is that YoutTube won't monetize us - our second appeal video will be submitted over the weekend - so at this stage of our trajectory it's just great to have the extra eyes on the work and get the word out there. We're only just starting back up so please do help us grow!


Real Talk: tell your friends and then tell them to tell their friends, hit that bell, and we would have had 100K views before anyone streamed it.


Realer Talk: If you're worried about the Taylor Swift of WoW, please know he was a real Gentleman. He didn't watch it for the whole weekend (he's a sub and it was in his Reddit feed Friday and Saturday but he scrolled over) and that let the content grow naturally.. How did it go? We got 22K views and 200+subs over 48 hours. After he watched it in front of 39K people live we got 15K views and 1200+ subs over 10 hours.

For Really Real Talk: if it weren't for his reaction would we have your sub right now? And that's what really matters to us at the moment. Our subs. Who will hopefully become our Pats or donate or buy some merch because *that* is what's gonna really help our Channel exist in the first place.


So it's cool - we're cool - you're cool - let's be cool and grow this Community and take it Breezy into 2024!

PPS: We're fielding a bunch of 'what can we do?' and "why aren't you monetized?" questions and just in case that's what brought you here - below is a reply to a comment that should maybe be a whole post on it's own but will probably be cannibalized for the appeal video. And I've already done a community post today. So...

Legitimate Query: "Can you explain the part why you're getting demonetized? What can I do, beyond like, sub and comment on every video?"

Legitimate answer: 'Liked, subbed and comments? That is all we can ask! That, and tell your friends. In real life. Well, that, tell your friends, and become a Patreon if you have the inclination and the budget.



YouTube's algorithm believes our AI voices are the voices of the people we are satirizing and that means they can't see what we *do*. It looks like we just reuploaded actual friggin BlizzCon to whatever YT is calling their version of SkyNet these days..

TL;DR: The algorithm believes we "Reuse content" without changing it in a way that "adds significant value" and so our whole channel is demonetized at the moment.

We are not one person. We are six people and three of them do the daily heavy lifting. Then we have an animator, web developer and musician/game dev to round out our crew. And three of those have seven kids between them because they love their wives too much. Or too often. Anyway, making a video like this one takes all day, every day for several days and we need to find a way, if we can, to physically pay them for their time.


Signing up to our Patreon and giving us a handful of cabbage every month would let us make more premium content that everybody loves. Shit, even your spare change would help: there are over 50K subs now and that bodes well for some good ol' fashioned human exponentiality.



Anyhoo - subbing, watching and commenting will absolutely pay off once we are monetized so if that's what you can do that's a damn sight more than most so thank you Dude. From the heart.'



If you have the cheddar: $0.50 from 50K people per month = $25K and more than enough for the six of us and our kids to keep the lights on... just sayin'.

So this morning we just got rejected for monetization (again) because of “Reused Content” - YouTube thinks we “use someone else’s content without making changes that add significant value” and obviously we think that’s a load of old horse figs.



We are appealing the decision, again, but if you’re here reading this already and feel like our changes do ‘add significant’ value, would you please be a dear and drop a comment below?

Happy Friday, Subs!! Happy Blizzcon? Ish!

The team at Unscripted is hard at work already on the next installment of HonestCon, and it promises to be a doozy. Look out for it in the coming days!

Update on other channel news: We've recently had our appeal to monetize turned down by YouTube on the basis that we 'Reuse content' without changing it to make it our own or adding 'significant value.' They're wrong, but it's proved impossible to haggle with the hegemon this time around. To quote Ralphie Wiggum, "It tastes like burning," but at Unscripted, we pride ourselves on not breaking stride after a shot to the nuts. So, we're starting a website for merch, asking you to hit us up on Patreon, and prepping a bulletproof case to present on the 25th of November, which is the next time we can apply. If that application to monetize is rejected, it will be a full three months before we can apply again, and to be honest, if we can't make a dime off of doing this for four months, we are going to have to go and do something else for a bit so we don't starve/get evicted/have to sober up.

It has taken us a little while to collect our jaws off the floor. We want to acknowledge the MASSIVE support that has been thrown our way - and let you all know we are already hard at work on multiple projects to be released in the coming days. Unscripted

Since we got married and had babies, there's been no time for videos. However, in the background, we've been collaborating on our first game. We're hoping to make the stupidest multiplayer experience to date. Something to make the wife cringe and the children scream. We'll be back to making videos, but for now, here's our abomination :D
