On January 7, 2009, two weeks before Obama’s inauguration, President George W. Bush invited all three former living presidents and the president-elect to the White House 🇺🇸

It was the first time since 1981 that all living presidents had gathered in one room — marking a symbol of unity and peaceful transition of power.

The group had lunch in a private dining room after posing for photographs in the Oval Office.

The meeting focused on sharing advice and camaraderie rather than policy, with the former presidents expressing a shared desire for Obama's success.

Because that’s how America worked when it was great 🇺🇸

Born as Francesco Stephen Castelluccio on May 3, 1934, in Newark, New Jersey, Frankie Valli was raised in a hardworking Italian-American family with deep roots in Southern Italy. His father, Nicholas Castelluccio, was of Sicilian descent, with family connections to the historic town of Nicosia in the province of Enna, Sicily. His mother, Mary Rinaldi, came from a family with roots in Puglia, another region known for its rich traditions and culture. Like many Italian immigrant families of the early 20th century, the Castelluccios valued family, resilience, faith, and a strong sense of community.

Growing up in an Italian-American neighborhood in Newark, Frankie was surrounded by the sounds, flavors, traditions, and spirit of Italy. Family gatherings meant food, conversation, laughter, and, of course, music — influences that would eventually become part of his personality and artistic identity. Despite modest beginnings and financial difficulties, Frankie dreamed of becoming a singer, inspired by performers such as Frank Sinatra and other Italian-American artists who had already found success in America.

Long before becoming a star, Frankie worked different jobs, including as a barber, while singing in local clubs and small venues at night. His determination, extraordinary falsetto, and passion for music eventually led him to become the iconic frontman of The Four Seasons. During the 1960s, the group became one of the most successful acts in American music, producing an unforgettable collection of hits including Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man, Rag Doll, and December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night).

Frankie Valli’s unmistakable voice soon became recognized around the world. His distinctive high tenor and emotional style helped define a generation of popular music and influenced countless artists who followed. Alongside his success with The Four Seasons, Valli also built an impressive solo career, highlighted by the timeless classic Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, a song that continues to be loved by audiences decades later.

Throughout his remarkable life and career, Frankie Valli remained connected to his Italian heritage. His journey mirrors that of countless Italian-American families who built new lives in the United States while keeping their traditions and cultural identity alive. The values associated with his Sicilian and Southern Italian background — hard work, loyalty, passion, and devotion to family — remained an important part of his story both on and off the stage.

His extraordinary career has been celebrated through films, documentaries, and most famously the award-winning Broadway musical Jersey Boys. The show tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, following their journey from the streets of New Jersey to international fame. Its worldwide success introduced Valli’s music and story to a new generation and further cemented his place among the most recognizable voices in American music history.

From his family’s roots in Sicily and Southern Italy to the bright lights of America’s greatest stages, Frankie Valli’s story is one of talent, determination, perseverance, and Italian pride. More than seven decades after beginning his musical journey, he remains an enduring symbol of the enormous contribution Italian-Americans have made to music and entertainment around the world.
