welcome to a cinematic sanctuary for those who are deeply tired of the modern hustle and seek refuge in slow living, quiet observation, reading and the philosophy of simplicity.
hi, i’m Rimma. after a long career as a journalist and photographer capturing other people’s endless dramas, i realized i urgently needed to reclaim my own life. now, at 45, i live as a modern hermit. i spend my days practicing intentional living, reading books, and writing a novel about the true nature of happiness (which, honestly, seems to hide from me every time i open my laptop).
this channel is a visual journal of escaping the absurd rat race. my journey unfolds in deep isolation between two contrasting worlds: the quiet, brutal beauty of the north and the sun-drenched, beautifully melancholic coast of the south.
if you are looking for a digital retreat and a gentle companion who values peace of mind more than social status, subscribe to join my quiet corner.

My dear friend, a few days ago, I did something completely irrational.
I had to temporarily leave my quiet, peaceful coast and step into an environment where my personal comfort and carefully built isolation simply ceased to exist. My logical brain was screaming that it was an inconvenient and difficult path, but I decided to go anyway.
And along the way, it became an unexpected, real test for me.
I had a chance to see: is the inner peace we build in our comfortable sanctuaries real, or is it just a fragile illusion that breaks the moment the world gets too close? As it turned out, you don't need to force your mind to relax — sometimes life itself gives you the perfect answer.
This Saturday, I invite you to step outside the digital simulation and take this slow journey with me. Let’s find out what happens when the noise finally stops.
New cinematic visual essay — coming this Saturday.

Reading your incredibly thoughtful comments on my last video made me realize how universal this feeling is. Whether it’s the "Keeping up with the Joneses" pressure in America that Steve mentioned, or the "performance" for younger generations that Kevin shared—we are all, in some way, running a race we never signed up for.
I spent years in the spotlight on TV, wearing the "success" suit, yet I feel more like a "winner" now, dancing in my garden, than I ever did in a studio. But let’s be honest: choosing a simple life sounds poetic, but the transition is often messy and full of quiet doubts.
I want to ask you something that came up in our discussion: What is the hardest part for you when trying to slow down?
🔘The Financial Fear: Letting go of the "more is better" mindset (and those 50-year mortgages).
🔘 The Awkward Social Talk: Explaining why you chose "less" to people (and family) who are still chasing "more."
🔘 The Productivity Guilt: Learning how to just be without feeling like you’re "wasting time" or falling behind.
🔘 The Identity Shift: Finding out who you are when you're no longer your job title or your career.

Solitude has many faces. Over the last 20 years, I’ve been them all: a forest hermit, a city hermit, a digital hermit, and now—a seaside hermit.
My ego dissolved, and my claims against the world faded away. What I realized is that we don’t actually crave isolation itself. We aren’t looking for a cave to hide in.
What we truly crave is the right to live in peace. To enjoy nature, to create, and to simply be—instead of chasing things or tolerating the presence of people who don't resonate with our souls. We are becoming "high-functioning hermits," finding silence right in the middle of a noisy world.
If you’re searching for your own kind of peace, my latest film might be the mirror you need.

My new film about 20 years of being a modern hermit was released yesterday.
In it, I talk about 'the right to move at your own speed.'
What do you find most challenging about the modern pace of life?

Most people think a "hermit" is either a mystic in a cave or someone eating moss in a remote cabin, fighting the world. Radical, unliveable, and honestly… a bit much.
To be fair, when I first started 20 years ago, I fell right into that trap of authentic drama. But I’ve learned that true solitude looks very different from the stereotypes.
It’s not about escaping life—it’s about finally finding it.
Tomorrow, I’m sharing the full story of my 20-year journey. From radical fanaticism to a silence you can actually breathe in.
The film drops tomorrow.

Happiness isn't a destination you reach, it's a craft you learn.
We often treat happiness like a retirement fund—something we’ll finally enjoy once the house is clean, the kids are grown, or the career is peak. We live in the "waiting room" of life. We often mistakenly confuse "happiness" with "comfort." We spend our lives waiting for the moment when stress will disappear, bills will be paid, and everything will finally be "perfect" so we can begin to be happy. But this version of peace is an illusion.

Listen... there’s a lot of noise out there telling you to 'reinvent' yourself for the new year. But here’s the truth: you don’t need to break yourself to fit a new set of goals.
We’ve been taught that 'busy' means 'alive' and 'achievement' means 'worth.' But real luxury is the ability to move at your own pace. It’s the power to notice beauty where others see a void.
Your strength isn't in the hustle; it's in your presence. Your magic is in your intentionality.
So, this year, don't just set targets. Set boundaries. Don't just plan your career; plan your peace. Promise yourself that you will be your own most trusted ally.
You are already the prize. Start acting like it. Let’s make this year about depth, not just distance. You with me?
