The Villagers, also known with their original name, testificates, may not be as peaceful as we think of them. Sure, Villagers don't possess any weapons and will never hurt any entity. But was that also true for the Ancient Villagers? Well, I don't think so. It is all revealed with the Piglins. I originally thought of this theory in 2019, and Minecraft Legends has basically confirmed it. Many people believe that the Piglins were created due to the Ancient humans bringing pigs to the Nether. But I don't think that is correct. If that was true, the Piglin would have never invaded the overworld as seen in Legends. This theory attempts to explain the origins of the Piglins and can help us understand why they love gold so much. Just like all other theories for the Piglins begins in the Overworld. Long before the Warden or the Endersent, there were two great empires ruling over the Overworld. The humans, were the player and the villagers come from, and the Ancient Piglins. They both wanted to rule the land and take all the riches for themselves. A war broke between the two, resulting in the Humans beating the Piglins until they found rescue in the Nether. But the humans didn't just stop there. They wanted to destroy them all, so they sent a zombie in the Nether. It didn't take much time until a great portion of the Piglin population had become zombified. The Piglins, realizing the danger, stayed away from the Zombified Piglins as much as they could. Even if the Villagers are now peaceful and have forgotten about them, the Piglins haven't forgotten and haven't forgiven them. The reason they love gold so much is because they want to craft netherite weapons and invade the Overworld once again, when that is possible.
