As a crocheter in my late 40s, I've created countless projects over the years. While many makers choose to specialize in just one or two things, I've always enjoyed crocheting whatever inspires me. And when I feel generous or inspired enough, I turn those projects into tutorials so others can learn too.
I've accepted made-to-order (MTO) projects before, but making many pieces within a limited time often leaves me feeling stressed. As a full-time mom to a child with special needs, every hour I spend trying to meet deadlines is an hour I could have spent helping my son learn, grow, or simply be there with him.
Growing up, I became an introvert. My parents were busy, and there were moments when I wished they had more time for me. Looking back, I know I lost some of the peace and guidance that every child deserves. That experience shaped how I see parenting today. I don't want my son to feel alone, especially when he needs support the most.
Balancing work from home, content creation, crocheting, and caring for a child with special needs is rewarding, but it's also exhausting. People often say that we grow faster when we're surrounded by the right people—those who encourage us, guide us, and help us succeed. Sometimes I feel like I don't have that kind of support, and there are days when the journey feels lonely.
But whenever I feel tired or uncertain, I remember why I keep going. My greatest motivation has never been money or success. It's the love I have for my son. He reminds me every day that the sacrifices are worth it, and he gives me the strength to keep creating, keep learning, and keep moving forward—one stitch at a time. ❣️
