Pray For NEPAL !!
🇳🇵💔 NEPAL FLOOD DISASTER : HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE FEAR DEAD !!
A massive flash flood swept through northern Nepal near the Tibet border on Wednesday morning, causing widespread destruction in Rasuwa district, damaging settlements, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure and triggering emergency warnings for communities downstream.
The sudden surge was reported along the Bhote Koshi River at around 9 am, with authorities saying the floodwaters entered Nepal from the direction of Tibet. Timure and Syabrubesi were among the areas severely affected.
The force of the flood washed away vehicles, goods and other property and caused extensive damage to settlements and infrastructure along the river corridor. Roads, bridges and hydroelectric projects were among the infrastructure affected, while electricity supplies were also disrupted in some areas.
Around a dozen settlements in Rasuwa were reported to have been affected, including Syaphrubesi, Betrawati, Mailung, Salletar, Shantibazar, Pairebesi, Khalti Basti, Sole, Trishuli and Battar. Authorities were still assessing the full scale of the destruction.
Security forces and emergency teams have launched search-and-rescue operations in the affected region. Four Armed Police Force personnel stationed at a border outpost in northern Rasuwa were reported missing following the flooding, according to preliminary reports.
Nepal's disaster authorities have warned residents living close to rivers in Rasuwa and downstream districts, including Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan and Gorkha, to remain on high alert and move to safer areas where necessary. The sudden rise in the Bhote Koshi could also increase water levels in the Trishuli River downstream.
The exact cause of Wednesday's flood had not been officially established at the time of reporting. Authorities were investigating the source of the sudden surge, while the region remains vulnerable to extreme flooding originating in the high Himalayan terrain.
Nepal barely gets a chance to breathe before another tragedy strikes. Just when we begin to think that perhaps some money can finally be saved by stopping corruption and invested in something new and meaningful, nature brings another devastating blow. Today’s sudden flash flood in Rasuwa has swept away homes, roads, bridges and vital infrastructure, leaving behind destruction, loss and uncertainty.
Sometimes it genuinely feels as if Nepal is cursed with bad luck. We work hard to rebuild, develop and move forward, only to watch years of effort disappear within hours. The painful reality is that a country struggling to build its future repeatedly has to redirect its limited resources toward rescue, relief and reconstruction.
Today is another heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life and development can be in the face of nature.
