Sailors turned DIY boat builders—documenting our journey of building a fiberglass catamaran for long-term cruising and inspiring others to dream big!
After circumnavigating the North Atlantic on Serendipity (Sabre Targa 34) and completing a two-year refit of Elements of Life (custom 37' aluminum monohull), we sailed to the Arctic before selling her in 2020. Now, we're tackling our most ambitious project yet: building a 42-foot performance catamaran from the ground up.
Follow our journey through the highs and lows of boat building and beyond. Whether you're a sailor, dreamer, or DIY enthusiast, there's something here for you!

Sorry there is no new video this week, but we've stepped away for a few days to grieve and reflect over the loss of our Georgie girl.
This came suddenly and unexpectedly, and we’re still trying to process it all. Georgie has been a constant presence in our lives and on our channel for over a decade—our travel buddy, our boat cat, our shadow through every chapter. She meant the world to us, and her absence is deeply felt.
Thank you for understanding as we take this time to mourn and remember her.
We’ve shared more about what happened, along with some of our favorite memories, on our Facebook and Instagram pages if you’d like to read more or leave a message. 💔

🚨 No new video this week, friends! 🚨
While the outside of our boat may look the same, there’s actually a flurry of activity happening on the interior. We're getting everything prepped, and in the next few weeks, we’ll be moving on to applying the actual finish paint! Stay tuned because we’ll have a lot more exciting updates to share soon. Thanks for following along with us on this journey!⛵✨

Sorry, no regularly scheduled video this week!! While Matt was recovering from a flu he picked up at Boat Show, I had my parents in town for the week, and they spent a few days helping out on the boat.
In my lifetime, my parents have built 4 of the houses we've lived in, and I was very curious to have them as a part of our build for a few days, and see what they thought of it.
Don't worry - a full video on this will be coming out in 2 weeks! 🥰

Sorry there's no new video out today. We decided to escape the tent and get some fresh mountain air in the Pacific Northwest. We spent the week reconnecting with our friends at BRNKL, and @OddLifeCrafting was there too.
We had a wonderful week split between Victoria and Tofino on Vancouver Island, filled with so many activities that I don't even know if we'll be able to document them all. It was exactly what we needed to take our mind off boat work for just a few days, yet get us revved up to finish our project so we can sail to places like this.

No new video to post this week. We're using this break in the weather to catch up on a number of boat projects - including sanding!!
Now that it is tolerable inside the tent to wear long sleeves and pants, it's time to prep the area where our chainplates are, so we can beef them up with some extra layers of glass.

We ended up mixing about 75 oz of thickened resin while preparing to glass our bridge deck seam .... only to realize later we could have filled the area with spare foam. I wonder how much vinyl ester that would have saved us? Oh well, too late now. This is how we learn.

Have you seen our latest video where we rely on two sets of jack stands to permanently bond our bridge deck into place? It's a good one!
