Hey everyone! I’ve been offline for a bit, but only because I haven’t had service - I’ve been on PCT for the last 16 days!

I’m documenting while I’m out here, but I’m also making a point of not being glued to my phone, so expect videos and updates to come at some point.

While I have you, I’m raising money for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation on this hike. The WFF’s main focus is to help the families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and to assist injured firefighters and their families. It’s a great cause, and helps to support the folks that keep us safe while we hike.

I'm getting hitched! Flying back home to PA tomorrow, wedding next Sunday, then we're going to adventure around the southwest for a week or so. Should be back in action the week of the 11th. See you all on the other side!

Another training hike on the books! My water filter decided not to work so I had to bail a little early, which meant cold soaked rice and beans at home.

Pack weight: 24 lbs
Distance: 14.18 mi
Ascent: 3,039 ft
Average Speed (including breaks): 1.8 mph
Moving Speed: 2.0 mph

What Went Well?
- My cold-soaked oats recipe is 95% of the way there… very tasty
- New Altra Timp 5s are pretty comfy. Foot pain was minimal.

What Can I Improve?
- Always check my water filter before heading out!
- Need a gear pouch for my shoulder. Constantly digging around in my pack is slowing me down.

Hey friends! New video is on the way shortly - I've been spending a lot of time testing out cold soak recipes and trying to get these poor tootsies into good working order.

The thing about training hikes is the goal is to push the mileage, so it's not very conducive to filming while I'm out there. Hoping to be back in the "real" woods with a camera soon.

As we head into the new year, I wanted to take a moment to give a very heartfelt thanks for all of the support in 2023. It's been a blast getting to know you all a bit! I hope I was able to help you out in some small way, whether it was by sharing a tip or simply making your day slightly more entertaining.

There are lots of fun things planned for the channel in 2024 - new format, bigger adventures, and more regular uploads - it’s going to be a lot of fun, and it’ll probably get a bit weird.

Thank you again - without you I’m just guy in the woods talking to himself.

Hey everyone! It's possible you've noticed that I've been going pretty heavy with the shorts lately. This is a conscious decision on my part to push through some creative blocks and get a handle on perfectionism. So far it's been awesome! It's liberating to go from idea to completed project all in one day.

For those of you that are here for the long-form content (which I imagine is most of you), rest assured that there is plenty more of that on the way, as I'm hoping that this little experiment will allow me to produce more high-quality long-form videos than before.

In the meantime, here's me at the beach between shots, hammering deli meat and fruit in the back of Floki the 4Runner like a raccoon.
