3 medium ripe bananas, mashed (the browner, the better)

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted (can substitute with oil)
¾ cup (150 g) brown sugar (light or dark)
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional add-ins:
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
½ cup chocolate chips
½ teaspoon cinnamon (for extra warmth)
🍽️ Instructions
Step 1. Preheat and prepare
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
Step 2. Mash bananas
In a large bowl, mash the 3 ripe bananas with a fork until smooth but slightly chunky.
(Tip: Riper bananas = naturally sweeter and moister bread.)
Step 3. Mix wet ingredients
Stir in melted butter.
Add brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Whisk until well combined.
Step 4. Add dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined — don’t overmix (that can make it dense).
Step 5. Add mix-ins (optional)
Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
Step 6. Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
(Tip: If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil halfway through.)
Step 7. Cool and serve
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Remove from pan and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
