Big News From K2 region

The GGLA Rescue Team has successfully completed rope fixing and route clearance for the 2026 trekking season on the world-famous Gondogoro Pass.

𝗚𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀, located at an altitude of approximately 5,585 meters (18,324 ft), connects Shigar Valley with Mashabrum Valley in Baltistan. Situated near Concordia in the heart of the Karakoram, the pass is regarded as one of the most spectacular trekking routes in the world.

The route is widely known as the shortest and most scenic way to travel from the K2 region back to Skardu. It offers breathtaking views and access to some of the world’s highest mountains, including K2, Broad Peak, and the Gasherbrum peaks.

Every year, thousands of trekkers and mountaineering expeditions use this route during the summer climbing season. Most K2 expeditions prefer returning through Gondogoro Pass because of its stunning scenery, adventurous crossing, and direct connection between the Baltoro Glacier and Hushe Valley.

The successful rope-fixing operation by the local rescue team now makes the route ready and safer for trekkers and climbers for the 2026 season.

Body of French Climber Recovered from K6 Peak

The local rescue team has successfully recovered the body of French mountaineer Guillaume Pierrel from the dangerous terrain of K6 Peak in Nangma Valley, Kanday, District Ghanche, Gilgit-Baltistan.

The recovery operation was carried out under extremely difficult conditions
