Mental Health Monarchs

Mental Health Monarchs® is featured in VoyageATL. ✨

This one feels a little special because the conversation gave me room to talk about MHM as the whole thing-not just a psychotherapy practice or a creative brand, but the place where psychology, Black culture, art, music, writing, humor, and emotional liberation get to sit at the same table.

I also got to talk about how some of the parts of myself I once thought belonged on separate roads eventually found their way back to one another through Mental Health Monarchs®.

The conversation also covers the philosophy behind MHM, the creative world I've built around it, and what it means to help people become liberated leaders of their lives.

I'm grateful to VoyageATL for making space for the fuller story.

And yes, one of my favorite images didn't make the final edit. Bishop Butterscotch apparently brought a little too much family-systems truth to the function. 😂

WELCOME TO ALGO MART, where some things cost more than you think.

At some point, likes and heart emojis stopped being simple reactions and started behaving like social currency. We count them, compare them, notice when they're missing, and sometimes let them tell us more about ourselves than they were ever qualified to say.

That's the gist of ALGO MART. We walk in carrying hearts, likes, laughs, and shares, then try to spend them on what humans have always wanted: attention, validation, belonging, desirability, confidence, and maybe even self-esteem.

Same needs. New currency.

And ALGO (the algorithm) isn't just the dealer anymore. He's the merchant, banker, and currency manipulator all at once. He decides what and who gets attention, how much engagement something earns, which reactions suddenly become valuable, and when yesterday's "wealth tally" stops feeling like enough.

The slippery part is when social capital starts creeping into how we see ourselves.

A post can perform well and still not say much about your actual worth. A post can flop without making you less relevant. Visibility can feel good, but it still isn't belonging. Attention can be exciting and validating, but it still isn't the same thing as having a sense of worth that belongs to you whether anybody claps or not.

The real question might be this:

What happens when we start using public reaction as private evidence about who we are?

Because social media can tell us what got attention, but it still can't tell us what we're worth.

Would you agree or nah? Drop your thoughts in the comments if you want.

Love ya. 🧡

Mental Health Monarchs

I wrote this one after realizing I was tired of being useful in relationships where I wasn't being fully considered.

The kinds of relationships where people know how to call when they need comfort, clarity, advice, or a place to pour everything they're carrying — but when your own story enters the room, suddenly the energy changes.

Healing made some of that harder to ignore.

This post is about the old role, the people who keep reaching for an old version of you that no longer exists, and what it feels like to choose yourself instead of trying to earn reciprocation.

Choose Yourself Now, or Meet the Lesson Again Later is live in The Scriptorium.

Emotional Liveration Sundays kicked off yesterday talking about generational dysfunction. This is the part of the service where tithes and offering are collected, a call to the altar of therapy, the benediction, and the after church fellowship! In case you missed it: Why Am I Doing This? Honestly, I thought it’d be hilarious to show up as my alter ego and let my goofy, church-kid heart run wild. It started as pure entertainment, but I don’t create without purpose. Welcome to Emotional Liberation Sundays—laugh first, heal always. 🫣👑 #blackmentalhealth #blacktherapist #healingjourney
