Are you a transport enthusiast with an Internet connection?
Boy do I have something for you.
I'm a member of (and have been for a long time now) of @The Trainspotter 43 's discord server. Its a brilliant place to hang out and discuss all things transport. Trains, planes, and even this weird thing with 4 wheels I'm told is called a "car".
'Allo. Been a bit since I featured any of my model locos (totally not because I've been redoing my whole layout and its a mess). As a result, I've elected to let y'all choose the first 4 I run, film and post once I've got a couple other videos out the way. This poll will run until shall the end of the week, and every loco will on it will be run, just the most popular will be run first and the least will be run last. Cheers
I was sat wondering about video ideas - there's only so many loco-and-rake combos I can do on my model railway from so many angles, and as such, would longer videos be of interest.
Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean I will do long form videos, this is purely to gauge where opinion lies.
Video ideas could be scenic ideas - how I built my Hillside or such, they could be running sessions in guises of maybe BR blue, GWR etc, they could even be "how-to" for servicing locomotives. Sky's the limit.
So.... I must have been in a right old state when I uploaded my short on the last CrossCountry HST... I recorded it in landscape and switched it round to portrait for that particular video. However, I must have forgotten to do a dang check to see it's all there because the rear power car isn't featured. So I've uploaded the original video for y'all to enjoy. Keep safe
Today marks the end of HST operation for CrossCountry, marked with a service from Plymouth to Leeds. GWR are the last operator of HSTs in the South West - for now at least. Thank you HSTs, it's been an honour.
Aside from taking a break from YouTube in general during the Summer (as I happen to be at the station when I'm outside anyway) I'm also finally getting a move on with my modelling pursuits.
I thought I'd just push on with this in the attempt that once it's done the layout will look all the better for it and over the last week or so progress has been swift. An entire hillside and tunnel has been erected, something I've never managed go do before so a load of firsts.
I've got a couple of videos planned, took some when I happened to be in Bristol and have a trip planned which will hopefully mean spending some time in Newport (South Wales).
So another youtuber on here (Tainspotter 43 - go follow him, he's great) has made a discord server. I personally am a member, and there are channels for every rail operating company in the UK plus more, so there's something for everybody. Please consider doing a join:)
Right then. Recently many of my videos have been orientated towards the model side of my train obsession. This is because I haven't been out trainspotting over the holidays (which is my own fault - I have legs!), and I don't want to bombard y'all with video after video of IETs, with maybe a castle in between. Of course, the castle sets will be withdrawn by the end of 2024 (that is, if the GWR gets their act together!), but rest assured I will get every ruddy last castle set I can before they all go. From then on it will be more modelling I'm afraid. I might even get on with some scenery, however that's wishful thinking on my part. If anything interesting goes through my neck of the woods - freights, NMTs, railtours and the like I'll definitely try and capture it for you all, and if any interesting IETs come through I'll see to those too. I film the mundane - but I don't want my channel to be inundated with IETs, of course I can go to other locations - there is a level crossing I've yet to film at. This has been a bit blocky, full of text. I'll sign off here. Let me know what you want me to be seeing!
