We're just touching base with y'all as we enter the final two days of the working week. We hope you're keeping well, & as promised we've got some hot off the press exclusive Duplates to unleash in the coming weeks.
In the 60s, 70s & 80s, Steppers Music was the only way we could express the sufferation we endured & continue to do so. Other Creeds have had more than the apologies doled out by the Dutch PM this week for the brutality they endured. It's a start, but the damage continues to affect our generations until the present, which is why we WILL NOT give up on our quest for reparations!

We hope you're all in good health & doing well.
You may be wondering where we've been, so please bear with us whilst we explain. We were forced to take a break from the Yootman Promotion Channel because of a copyright infringement issue. Songwriter Augustine Sylvester made a copyright takedown request to YouTube as the writer of a track we used where he's not even mentioned in the credits.
We contacted him via email to apologise & offered to:
A: Retain the track & give him credit as the writer
B: Remove his track
He declined to respond, so we were given a copyright strike from YouTube which is very serious, as it puts the future of the channel in dire peril. UNBELIEVABLY four weeks later, we received yet ANOTHER copyright takedown request from the same character as the writer of another track on our channel, where again he's NOT mentioned in the credits. We therefore received our second & final copyright strike!
We contacted him by email again, & still received zero response. The second track was produced by a Label we'd heard of, so we contacted them by email to see if they could help appeal to Sylvester, but we received no response. Why's this so serious? YouTube has a policy of three copyright strikes & your channel is PERMANENTLY removed, which would throw 12 months hard work & thousands of man hours away.
We appealed to YouTube who were of no help at all. We suggested that instead of them going for the nuclear option when a takedown request is received, that it maybe better if we were given a warning & an opportunity to remove the track within a given timescale or face sanctions. All they suggested is if we thought we had a right to profile the tracks in question, seek legal advice! 🙄
After days of going back & forth with YouTube, we eventually gave up.
Our videos number in the hundreds & we had no idea which ones were written by Sylvester, so not wanting to exacerbate the issue further, with a heavy heart Yootman Promotion decided to take a break from YouTube until the 90 day warning periods were over. All we can do is hope there are no further tracks on our channel written by Sylvester.

It's also heart-breaking that during this period, the man who was our biggest inspiration sadly passed away & we felt unable to take part in the public outpouring of grief. The Legendary Jah Shaka is the man who launched a thousand Sound Systems & the Global Black Dance Music genre. Without Jah Shaka, there'd be no Hip-Hop, House, Street Soul, Jungle, Garage or Dub-Step such was his influence, & we all owe him a debt of gratitude. He maybe gone from this realm, but his memory, music & influence will live on until the end of time. Rest in Eternal Peace our Brother... We'll see you again in Zion one day.

With Brexit, the Russia/Ukraine war, cost of living crisis & a UK Government not fit for purpose, we're certainly living through strange & inexplicable times. Hopefully people will soon realise we hold the power of change in our hands, & all we need to do is exercise our democratic right at the appointed time.

On Friday 17th February, the Yootman Promotion Posse had the honour & privilege of accompanying our Brother Elroy 'Bread' Pemberton on his final journey to Zion. Bread was a committed Sound System man all his life, & it was great seeing the UK's Sound System Fraternity turn out in Unity to honour the great man himself.
We send our condolences to the Pemberton family. Earth's loss is Zion's gain. Until we meet again Bredrin.
