Ok, have mercy! I'm just a novice tatter😊 (learning lots though). Tonight I was doing the class sample pattern on frontside/backside tatting. This is an exercise in the needle tatting class taught by @TattingMuse_Katia.
But first, the thread! This is LizBeth #10 thread that I wanted to experiment with, so I wound some off the ball and soaked it in a jar of walnut ink. It is mottled because the threads did not dye where they crossed over each other. If I try dying thread again, I might zig-zag it on a flat pan. But being a mixed-media person, I kind of enjoy the mottled look.
As far as the tatting, this is the first time I have tried frontside/backside tatting. This is the backside.
One needs to concentrate on those chains! I usually find chains the relaxing part of the pattern. I only worked up to RIng F. I think I will stop here and work on a bookmark pattern. I want to use the rest of that thread for a slow-stitch project.
Note: the motif is taken from a Flower Motif pattern designed by Jennifer Williams.
