At a review meeting held at the Secretariat with Agriculture Department officials, Agriculture Minister #TNR Garu directed strict action to prevent the entry and sale of unapproved HT (Herbicide Tolerant / BG-III) cotton seeds in the state. He ordered the constitution of Task Force teams and intensified surveillance in border areas to stop illegal movement of HT and spurious cotton seeds from Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Minister noted that HT cotton, though developed by Monsanto, was denied approval by the Central Government due to failure in field trials and environmental concerns. He also instructed officials to frame clear guidelines on co-marketing of cotton seeds and to conduct large-scale farmer awareness programmes, cautioning farmers against HT seeds due to increased herbicide use, biodiversity loss and contamination of other cotton hybrids. Agriculture Director Dr Gopi, departmental officials and seed company representatives were present.

Cooperative societies are the backbone of rural development in an agriculture-based nation like India, said Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala while inaugurating Cooperative Week–2025 in Hyderabad on the occasion of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
He stated that Telangana has emerged as a national role model in strengthening the cooperative system, driving revolutionary changes in agriculture and rural livelihoods.
The Minister highlighted key achievements: • Support extended to 25.35 lakh farmer families through investment assistance, income support, and crop insurance
• Telangana ranks 2nd in India with 18.9 million tonnes of paddy production
• Special recognition in pulses, groundnut, chilli, turmeric, and oil palm production
• Ensured dignified food security through the fine rice scheme
• Horticulture production reached 42 million tonnes
Future-focused initiatives include: • Natural farming targeted in 4,000 villages by 2047
• IoT-based micro-irrigation expanded to 3.95 million acres
• Development of oil palm, pulses, and horticulture mega clusters
• Priority to seed hubs, processing units, and cold storage capacity
He emphasized that increasing farmer incomes, achieving food and nutritional self-sufficiency, and building climate-resilient agriculture are Telangana’s core goals.
Quoting the cooperative principle “One for all, all for one,” he noted that PACS are strengthening rural economies by providing credit and essential services.
Key reforms include: • Recognition of 197 new MPACS
• Computerization of PACS
• Digital banking and Aadhaar-based payments
He appreciated NABARD for its key role in transforming PACS into multi-service centers and organizing Cooperative Week celebrations.
Telangana once again demonstrates that rural prosperity is possible through cooperation, the Minister concluded.

🫚Turmeric Value Chain Summit – 2025 | Hyderabad 17.12.2025🫚
🌱 “Turmeric farmers’ welfare must be the foundation of policy, pricing and market reforms.”
— Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture Sri Tummala Nageswara Rao
@TelanganaCMO @CII4India @NatlTurmericBd @PIBHyderabad
🇮🇳 India leads the world in turmeric production, and Telangana is a key contributor, with Nizamabad & Armoor emerging as major turmeric hubs.🫚
🏷️ The GI tag for Armoor Turmeric reflects the quality, tradition and hard work of Telangana farmers.
📈 Referring to Agri Vision 2047, announced at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, the Minister said agriculture is being repositioned as an engine of economic growth, not just a welfare sector.
🌱 Turmeric has a strategic role in this vision.🫚
⚠️ Price volatility is discouraging turmeric cultivation:
• Cost of cultivation: ₹8,000–9,000 per quintal
• Market prices: Around ₹12,000
📉 Sustainable pricing is critical for farmer confidence.
🏛️ The National Turmeric Board must function as a farmer-centric policy institution, extending beyond office boundaries to the fields.
Key focus areas:
✔️ Farmer welfare
✔️Research-to-field adoption
✔️ Marketing & branding
✔️ Export leadership
💰 Ensuring remunerative prices for turmeric farmers is the responsibility of the Turmeric Board.
The Minister called for:
• Price stability mechanisms
• Advance market intelligence
• Transparent trading systems
• Uniform moisture standards
🔬 To make Telangana turmeric globally competitive, emphasis must be on:
• High-curcumin varieties
• Quality testing laboratories
• Alignment with global standards
🌱 Under Integrated Farming (Vision 2047), turmeric🫚 can be promoted as an intercrop, especially in oil palm plantations—
📌 Better land use
📌 Lower risk
📌 Higher incomes
🏭 Farmers were urged to focus on value addition, as the future of turmeric lies in processed, value-based products, not raw produce alone.
Priority sectors include:
• Processing centres
• Nutraceuticals & immunity products
• Cosmetics
• Curcumin extraction
🫚🤝 The Turmeric Value Chain Summit – 2025, organised by CII Telangana & National Turmeric Board, brought together policymakers, scientists, industry leaders and farmer representatives.
🌍 Farmer-centric reforms, value addition and export orientation will drive the turmeric sector and help realise Agri Vision 2047.

Industries & IT Minister Sri Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Agriculture Minister Sri Tummala Nageswara Rao convened a review meeting with RFCL officials to assess urea production and supply at the Ramagundam Fertilizer Plant.
The Ministers examined the corrective measures being implemented to prevent a recurrence of the production disruptions experienced during the previous Kharif season and stressed the need for uninterrupted urea availability throughout the ongoing Rabi season.
They underlined the importance of allocating a minimum of 70% of Ramagundam’s urea output to Telangana, which would significantly reduce transportation costs and ensure faster delivery to farmers. Officials were also directed to remain fully prepared with robust contingency plans to address any unforeseen production challenges.
