This journey has been absolutely unreal. I’ve been a little preoccupied with my “real” responsibilities recently but, I’m really excited for what’s next! Unfortunately YouTube compression really did a number on the images and video in my recent Dehancer review. I'm pretty disappointed since the real results look so much better than what made it through upload. I didn't realize that this is a well known issue with film grain and video compression before posting. So I put together an article on my website that better shows what the examples actually look like.

There is still some jpeg compression and slight resizing done automatically outside my control. So it's not perfect but a lot better than the video compression. Look for the section titled high res before/after.
Currently working on figuring out a good way to share some full quality examples.

A while back I had some stickers made for my self with the channel logo featuring the 2024 total solar eclipse. Now I've released a version anyone can grab to support the channel.
Total solar eclipses are one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. Since I know a lot of people are as fascinated by them as I am and may not want "merch" I'm considering offering a version with no logo. Let me know what you think.

I recently got my hands on more expired Tri-X film. This batch expired in 2000 and was reportedly frozen since new. In my video about the first batch of expired Tri-X I didn’t discuss base fog, so I wanted to share some thoughts here.
The first photo has an uneven light source, so I apologize for that. My setup isn’t large enough to compare three 120 negatives at once. I was surprised to find that the Tri-X from 1983 and 2000 show very similar levels of base fog. Without backlight, both expired stocks appear very dark, while modern 400TX is almost completely clear.
