a couple of my favorite stills from the new Private Life video by @otium. This song is the closest to my heart on Sugar the Bruise. It really came together and it’s rare that a recording touches the same place emotionally as writing the song does. @ethangruska really was the glue that brought this one all together. I wanted to lean into the playful side of pain on this one. A lot of my writing comes from such a deep personal space and alongside Luke Temple and with help from Jeremy Harris in the studio I feel we pushed the shadow parts into some lightness. Phillip Weinrobe helped top these songs off with a fresh new perspective and I love where these songs ended up. So many lovely moments of wonder and surprise during every step of the way, and I couldn’t be more grateful to play with all the homies who helped make it come together.
