IMMEDIATE HELP NEEDED: I know we all think “This couldn’t happen to me,” and what if it did happen to you? Would you and your kids be smiling and full of JOY?
IMAGINE: You are EXCITED and full of LOVE and generosity in your HEART you are getting ready to deliver your 4th child, a baby girl. FUCK!!! FUCK!!! FUCK!!! You just found out your husband has cancer the size of a baseball in his chest that is wrapped around his spine and one of his legs is paralyzed and his body can barely move.
IMAGINE: A month later, you give birth to your healthy little baby girl (ahhh, look at that, she looks just like you) and you return to your HOME, a 25’ camper you all live in, at a campground in Maine, which is about to close TOMORROW (Oct. 15) and you have nowhere to go next.
Yup, maybe you’re like me and you can’t unsee this incredible family or unhear little Holden (5 years old) say when we gave them a small financial gift “We just ran out of money. We have no money!” and, like me, you can’t sleep right now. Like you, I’m concerned about our new friends, the Brookens Family and I know you may be concerned too!

The campground closes TOMORROW (Oct. 15)!!! Norm, Jessie, Holden, Hunter, Luna, and Baby Evie have no place to go and Jessie (who just gave birth to Baby Evie 2-weeks ago) has to figure out how to hook up and move their RV out without her rockstar husband Norm being able to help because he now walks with a walker and has very little strength.
This family has not asked for an ounce of help. They don’t walk around the campground asking people to pity them. They are friendly, loving, and real and they tend to stay at their campsite or the playground playing. Every single person in this family has a smile on their face and they radiate JOY. It makes you cry to see it and witness it. Like my youngest sister Caileen always says, “Love grows in small places!” She’s right!
If by TODAY we can get $14,000 for rent and $4,400 for heat and electric for the winter: total $18,400, perhaps we can get Norm, Jessie, Holden, Hunter, Luna, and Baby Evie the following furnished house (must stay nearby in Maine because Norm still has numerous chemo treatments)! And there’s a driveway big enough for their RV! I know this is not a small “ask” and I know almost we already donated money while at camp to help this family. And here’s the deal, it’s simply not enough. Can you help us do more and help this incredible family?!
i think you might agree with me when I say some of us are privileged because there are certain things that we don’t have to fight for like a home for our babies and ourselves this winter and heat and food.
What if Jesus is trying to retrain HOW you see and to WHO you give praise to? WHAT are you shining your flashlight on? Maybe that table or new mattress or new car you really want and you’ve been saving for or that weekend getaway money you have put aside for could be used to help BRING MORE JOY TO YOUR LIFE when you help the Brookens family?
Every penny counts. Every dollar makes a difference. Please give what you truly can give to get the Brookens family in a house for the winter, Oct.15-May 15!!! And we will need some larger donations fast. I’m putting $3,000 in the pot when the rental office calls me back about the house. If at least 6 more people matched my donation for the house and other people give what they can to the GoFundMe page I know we can get this money raised TODAYYYYY!
