Just a guy trying his best.

What am I trying to do? Well I am trying to express my thoughts and feelings on anything and everything that has me interested. Because ultimately what I want to do with this channel is express myself. So, if you are interested in a guy doing that why don't you stay a while and see if you find what I have to say interesting.

Is it just me or is it weird how people talk about the krogan civil war?

So, it seems like one of the things ME5 is gonna be about is a krogan civil war (image 1). Now how this happened or if this will be present in the game (and to what extent) isn't known.

But I feel like a crucial part of the conversation that is missing is how prior choices change this civil war.

If a player chose to cure the genophage and have Wreav lead the krogan without Eve I can definitely see a krogan civil war. Wreav is everything the old krogan were. A war mongering people whose only goal was conquest and power.

But if the player chose to not cure the genophage this just doesn't make sense. After the Reaper war there aren't many krogan left. They physically won't have the numbers to mount any conflict of substantial size again. They might literally just go extinct.

Now you can say "But in Andromeda they had a gene that was fighting back against the genophage that increased chances of birth rate. And they were using gene therapy to make it better over the journey. ADDITIONALLY, in ME2 Mordin and STG operatives found another mutations that was fighting back against the genophage. SO, its reasonable to assume that the same mutation could exist. Especially considering the fact that their might be a huge time skip from ME3 to ME5."

First off, its not the expected outcome of not curing the genophage. When I play the game and the choice of curing the genophage, or not, comes up it is framed as choosing whether the krogan get to live or whether they get to die. Even if Wrex is alive his attempt to increasing births is a staling strategy. It helps. It really does. But it doesn't overcome what the genophage does. And this isn't even considering the fact that many krogan died during the Reaper war. If it was hard keeping population up with the genophage after the war it is near impossible. And they don't have Wrex leading them anymore so they won't go back to what Wrex was doing. He was the only person keeping the krogan in check and focused on the future.

Second off, having another genetic mutation existing and that not being interfered with by the salarians or council makes no sense. And it is a bit to coinvent and again not aligning with expectations of the krogan's fate.

Then there is the possibility of curing the genophage then having Wrex and Eve leading the krogan. How long a krogan lives is unknown. Because krogan die long before they can find out. Dying to unnatural causes most of the time. For all we know they could literally just be ageless.

In on of the N7 day posters it shows four people (image 2). One of them a red krogan who I believe is Wrex. It has the shape of a krogan and the only character who has red as a distinct design to themselves is Wrex. This leads me to believe that Wrex is in the next game. Which obviously has implications for player choice but I will put that aside for now.

Wrex being alive not only confirms that Eve is alive but also the genophage is cured. There is no way a krogan civil war could happen in my eyes if these two people were alive. Krogan respect strength. What's a greater strength then curing the genophage? And I doubt their would be that much division within the krogan because a) Wreav died and b) most of the clans submitted to Wrex. And Wrex will not take any defiance of his imposed peace at all. AND Wrex will most likely have the new generation of krogan be taught the old ways as cautionary tales that lead to extinction.

But I don't see anyone saying this. All I see is "Damn. The krogans really are just violent." Like what? I'm sorry. I thought the whole point wasn't that the krogan's are inherently violent but that their society made them that way. Sure some genetics are involved but we have seen multiple krogan throughout the series defy their genes. In ME2 we have the poet krogan and on Tuchanka its shown that not all krogan are like "I want WAR! I want DEATH! I want to KILL!" Sure they are violent but for the most part it seems that circumstances lead them to be violent and not genetics. In Andromeda we have a lot of krogan who are just guys who want peace and to live. Vorn and Rorik are both chill krogan. Then we have Wrex and Drack. Two krogan who like violence but understand that it lead to the near extinction of their people.

So, I find the sentiment "Can't believe the krogan are violent again. When will they ever learn?" A bit weird.

But as I type this I did realise something. For one, I just have to go into the game and trust it will do something with it. That it will explain how this happened. Its not use to think the game will be bad or handle this poorly. I don't know what will happen. And, for two, if the genophage is cured there will be millions and millions of krogan. And regardless of how politically and socially powerful Wrex and Eve are, it won't change the fact that some krogan will desire a different path. They will reclaim old colonies and as young krogan grow old they will question and wonder about their history. Its not far fetched that as people grow up they look to the past for guidance and security. Some might see the old ways how a lot of people see the 1950s and 60s. A better time. Couple with the fact that their might just be some old krogan who kept their mouth shut for long enough until they grew in power. Disrupting the peace that Wrex and Eve made.

So, it could be that the new krogan civil war will be about this. Where Wrex and Eve are fighting against agitators. Young krogan convinced by old krogan's that they are fit to rule. They have the numbers, strength, will and it is their destiny to rule.

I think that would be an amazing way to advance the conversation on the krogan. To show that while there was peace it couldn't last for long because the past still haunt the krogan. And it will take more than just two powerful figures to stop that.

Last thing to bring up is the fact that, yes, it seems that the genophage is cured and Wrex and Eve are alive. I can't imagine the civil war happening if the genophage is not cured. I just can't. To basically make that outcome lead to the same events would be a bit to far. I think its just better to canonize the choice and move on. I would prefer if they did honour both choices but if the story would be better off than I can accept that. At least then it can fully explore the consequences of curing the genophage instead of crunching the branches. I can then imagine what a ME5 could be without the genophage being cured.

Wrex is confirmed alive because it literally can't be anyone else. Again, sorry, what other krogan with a red colour scheme exists? It's Wrex. Now the genophage begin cured doesn't mean Eve is alive because if the player didn't take Maelon's research then Eve will die. But I suspect she is alive because a) the story would be better for it and b) if they are canonizing choices now they might as well do this because again a) it will make the story better. And it is what most vocal fans do.

I was very sceptical of this because of feelings I have around Mass Effect. I love Mass Effect but I feel since they didn't commit to finishing Andromeda I can't trust that they won't just change course again if whatever ME5 brings isn't received well. I don't want a situation where every game changes course due to fans not liking it. At some point the artists have to stick to their vision and push it despite fan feedback. Because the reason I like these games is because the artists said "Hey, this is what I want to make. I hope you find it interesting." Not making a crowd please. Because you can't please a crowd. They all want something different.

But I will trust them. I want to see what ME5 brings. And I hope its a work that understands the inspirations of Mass Effect and keeps that core idea of what Mass Effect is. And feed into fan feedback that drifts away from that.

Hello! First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who watched my Veilguard video. I deeply appreciate all the support and comments you gave. I would have loved the video to have done better but I am happy as is. Getting any amount of attention was good.

Secondly I am making another Dragon Age video about potential games. I already have made a list of it and have written about most of them. That being the Executors, Titans, Blighted Elven gods and a potential Blighted Solas, that Dragon Age tactics game and a game based on the ending of Absolution.

But I want to know from you what potential games would you like to see. Share it and I will talk about it!

Thank you again for all your support. I am hoping to make more videos about Dragon Age and much more.

Hello. As of yesterday I finished my Veilguard video. It has been a very long time but it is finally done. It will be uploaded on the 31st of October for the anniversary of Veilguard.

And its gonna be a long one. And I think it will be good. Its definitely a better video I feel from the audio and editing side. There are some parts that are quite "okay enough" but I do feel that it is good.

As of what I am going to do going forward; make more videos and stream more. But my streams are going to be recording streams. Meaning I am not doing them to get viewers. Just to have YouTube be the place where my recordings go because Twitch deletes them after a certain period. So, any games I can record on my laptop without destroying it will be there. But if you want to join that is cool. I always welcome a chat.

The first one I am gonna stream is Pillars of Eternity. Since I finished I have thoughts and I want to make a video about it.

And that will most likely be my next video. But it also might be a Dragon Age related one and the last one for a while.

The one after that will be something involving BioWare but I don't want to talk about it. All I can say is I am play DOS1 and fuck Bibius.

Thank you all again for watching or reading my posts. I know its not why most of you joined but I do appreciate it. I do enjoy these essay videos a lot.

Hi! I am about half way through making my Veilguard video and it should be out by the end of this month. Because I want to release it same time as Veilguard's anniversary. But a quick video I can make is about who should buy BioWare or their IPs. Since Mark Darrah's video and a recently analyst said that might happen. So, would you like that as a video. And if you do mayhap suggest a thumbnail for said video. I don't know what one would look like so I am open to suggestion.

So, my infinite hatred for Jason Shreier is immense. But he made a good article on BioWare development and I need to take screen shoots. Does anyone have links to the article "Inside the ‘Dragon Age’ Debacle That Gutted EA’s BioWare Studio" that isn't pay walled. It can also just be the text of the article.
